If it’s Tuesday, it must be… NEW BEASTIE DAY!
And, nearly halfway into February, we’re finally meeting the last of the pre-Christmas Beasties. Let’s have a monster welcome for… Doctor Who Beastie!
This little woolly Time Lord’s outfit is inspired by the 11th Doctor, played by Matt Smith in series 5-7 of the long-running BBC science fiction show “Doctor Who”. As you can see, he’s really made the character’s trademark hairstyle and dapper tweed jacket (complete with felt elbow patches) his own!
And underneath the jacket, he’s sporting an elegant red bow tie and matching braces!
Then, to help him fight intergalactic nasties across space and time, I equipped him with a felt Sonic Screwdriver…
…And a custom-built, Beastie-sized Tardis!
I hope you can see enough of the details in the photos… Unfortunately daylight was in short supply in these parts around Christmas time!
The box has a little felt lamp on its roof, hand-appliquéd panels and embroidered windows on all four sides, and the all important “Police Box” sign hand-embroidered above the door!
With so many details to complete, it was a real race to the finishing line to get this very important commission done in time for Christmas!
But Christmas Eve dawned, and the Tardis was finally ready to carry the Beastie Doctor off to his new home…
…And left me singing the “Doctor Who” theme tune for the next three days straight! Perhaps you’d like to join in?
Right, that should keep you all entertained until Friday, when we’ll be back with news from Paddy and Plunkett! Then next Tuesday I’ll be showing you some behind-the-scenes stuff from within the walls of Beastie Towers… expect to see those elusive, long-promised notebook extracts at last, plus some sketches, many half-baked ideas and a whole lot of crafting gear! See you then…

Why thank you! To be honest, I’m amazed I got him finished in time 😂
It is gorgeous!!! I’d like one for my BM! As soon as I can I’ll send you an e-mail.
Oh super! Thank you! Wow, the orders really are piling up here… I’ll look out for your email and see where I can fit you into the schedule 😀
I think he could be my favourite Beastie so far! Love the Tardis, which I am sure, is much bigger on the inside!
But of course! I was tempted to embroider time-travelling gadgets all over the lining too… But then I’d probably still be making it! Thanks for stopping by 😀
Wow! I’m speechless! My jaw has dropped down and is now on the floor and I’m not sure how I ll put it back in place now…
Eeeek, that sounds serious! Unfortunately, Doctor Who Beastie is a doctor of time travelling, rather than medicine, and he’s unable to help you with your predicament at this time 😆 But he does appreciate the compliment! Thank you!! 😀
I always wondered what his credentials were… Oh well as long as he has a good screw driver, he has a lot of options 😉 I have never watched Dr who as I’m not from here, but was told all about it numerous times by one of Boy’s friend who is totally obsessed with it. It took me a couple of years to realise that the Dalek was actually not called the garlic… As it sounded the same to me phonetically… Until I saw it written somewhere 😀
Still, garlic could prove to be a dangerous foe for the Doctor… Use too much in a casserole and dinner is ruined! Noooooo! I have to admit to not seeing any of the new episodes, despite knowing a few Dr Who obsessives myself. The old ones are fun though… Some really cheesy old-school special effects!
AAAAAHHHH!!!!! I’m so excited! I love dr who!!! This so awesome!
Thank you! I figured a dose of classic sci-fi was just what everyone needed on these cold wintry days 😀
Of corse!!! You got my heart smiling 🙂
Yaaay! The Beasties get such a kick out of making people smile 😀 Enjoy the rest of your week!
You enjoy your week as well!
Admitting this may knock down my nerd status, but I have never seen an episode of Doctor Who (perhaps something to add to my to-do list). However, I do know that that is one dapper little Beastie and a perfect Tardis. Great job!
Why thank you! I suppose it’s probably more of a British phenomenon, although I think the new series are getting a more international following… Then again, my own guilty secret is that I’ve only seen the old episodes!
I better not let my husband see it or he will want one.
Heehee, I encourage that sort of thing 😉 Thanks for stopping by!
Aw, he is brilliant, I can’t get enough of that little tweed jacket! You made a tardis too? There is no end to your talents!
I certainly did… I put it in as an optional extra in the sketch I did for my customer, and she said “Yeah! Do it!” It was certainly a fun challenge, albeit an unexpected one! Thanks for your comment 😀
Wow! Fantastically cute under bite!
Why thank you! Beastie faces are inspired by the “monster face” that I sometimes (inexplicably) do for photos… But they wear it a lot better than I do! Thanks for dropping in 😀
(Crumples to the floor from an overdose of cuteness). Will the Dear Doctor see me now? I must also have that brilliant coat.
Thank you… Cuteness-related injuries seem to have been a problem with this post, so I might have to update it with a health warning 😀 The jacket shown is available in size B(eastie), which will fit anyone 5-6 inches tall… Will I make you up one? I can maybe let down the hem and sleeves if you’re a bit taller 😉
Definitely need one. Thank you. 😍💓💖❤️
Strange… From reading your blog I always pictured you as being taller 😉
Ha ha ha… Believe it or not, in a while we’re going to match. I bought a sleeveless knee length coat in a very similar tweed recently. The brownish tone was a winner. Waiting for it to be delivered. And will be airing it in April. Have a lovely Thursday. xo
Heehee! Don’t forget to sew felt elbow patches to your new coat for the full Doctor Who Beastie effect! Happy Thursday to you too 😀
That jacket! 😳 Omg, the awesomeness! You are coolness personified 🙂
Heehee! Thank you! Now if only I could apply myself to making human-sized clothes, I’d never have to go shopping again 😆
Looks great,love the Tardis
Why thank you! All the long nights of panel-sewing were worth it in the end 😀
WOW wow and wow again !!!!!!! you have really outdone yourself, beautiful crafting, every new Beastie you create gets more & more amazing
CONGRATULATIONS on your masterpiece
*Blush* Thank you for your lovely comment! This one took a while to come together, but from the amount of attention he’s been getting, I reckon it was totally worth it 😀
Sooo worth all the nightmares I say LOL
They are so extremely attractive!
Thank you! It was a great project, and I learned a lot from it! Thanks for stopping by 😀
