The Doctor Will See You Now…

Doctor Who Beastie, by CrawCrafts Beasties
If it’s Tuesday, it must be… NEW BEASTIE DAY!

And, nearly halfway into February, we’re finally meeting the last of the pre-Christmas Beasties. Let’s have a monster welcome for… Doctor Who Beastie!

This little woolly Time Lord’s outfit is inspired by the 11th Doctor, played by Matt Smith in series 5-7 of the long-running BBC science fiction show “Doctor Who”. As you can see, he’s really made the character’s trademark hairstyle and dapper tweed jacket (complete with felt elbow patches) his own!

And underneath the jacket, he’s sporting an elegant red bow tie and matching braces!

Then, to help him fight intergalactic nasties across space and time, I equipped him with a felt Sonic Screwdriver…

…And a custom-built, Beastie-sized Tardis!

I hope you can see enough of the details in the photos… Unfortunately daylight waThe Tardis, Finished Just in Time! CrawCrafts Beastiess in short supply in these parts around Christmas time!

The box has a little felt lamp on its roof, hand-appliquéd panels and embroidered windows on all four sides, and the all important “Police Box” sign hand-embroidered above the door!

With so many details to complete, it was a real race to the finishing line to get this very important commission done in time for Christmas!

But Christmas Eve dawned, and the Tardis was finally ready to carry the Beastie Doctor off to his new home…

…And left me singing the “Doctor Who” theme tune for the next three days straight! Perhaps you’d like to join in?

Right, that should keep you all entertained until Friday, when we’ll be back with news from Paddy and Plunkett! Then next Tuesday I’ll be showing you some behind-the-scenes stuff from within the walls of Beastie Towers… expect to see those elusive, long-promised notebook extracts at last, plus some sketches, many half-baked ideas and a whole lot of crafting gear! See you then…

    1. Eeeek, that sounds serious! Unfortunately, Doctor Who Beastie is a doctor of time travelling, rather than medicine, and he’s unable to help you with your predicament at this time 😆 But he does appreciate the compliment! Thank you!! 😀

      1. I always wondered what his credentials were… Oh well as long as he has a good screw driver, he has a lot of options 😉 I have never watched Dr who as I’m not from here, but was told all about it numerous times by one of Boy’s friend who is totally obsessed with it. It took me a couple of years to realise that the Dalek was actually not called the garlic… As it sounded the same to me phonetically… Until I saw it written somewhere 😀

        1. Still, garlic could prove to be a dangerous foe for the Doctor… Use too much in a casserole and dinner is ruined! Noooooo! I have to admit to not seeing any of the new episodes, despite knowing a few Dr Who obsessives myself. The old ones are fun though… Some really cheesy old-school special effects!

  1. Admitting this may knock down my nerd status, but I have never seen an episode of Doctor Who (perhaps something to add to my to-do list). However, I do know that that is one dapper little Beastie and a perfect Tardis. Great job!

    1. Why thank you! I suppose it’s probably more of a British phenomenon, although I think the new series are getting a more international following… Then again, my own guilty secret is that I’ve only seen the old episodes!

    1. I certainly did… I put it in as an optional extra in the sketch I did for my customer, and she said “Yeah! Do it!” It was certainly a fun challenge, albeit an unexpected one! Thanks for your comment 😀

    1. Thank you… Cuteness-related injuries seem to have been a problem with this post, so I might have to update it with a health warning 😀 The jacket shown is available in size B(eastie), which will fit anyone 5-6 inches tall… Will I make you up one? I can maybe let down the hem and sleeves if you’re a bit taller 😉

        1. Ha ha ha… Believe it or not, in a while we’re going to match. I bought a sleeveless knee length coat in a very similar tweed recently. The brownish tone was a winner. Waiting for it to be delivered. And will be airing it in April. Have a lovely Thursday. xo

  2. WOW wow and wow again !!!!!!! you have really outdone yourself, beautiful crafting, every new Beastie you create gets more & more amazing
    CONGRATULATIONS on your masterpiece
