Hello there everyone! Wow, it’s nice to be back with a new post AT LAST. I hope you’ll forgive my rather haphazard blogging habits of late… With any luck, this will signal the start of a return to normality. Well, as close to normality as we ever get here in Beastie Towers, anyway!
And speaking of new, it’s been a while since we had any new Beasties around here, hasn’t it? I reckon it’s high time I fixed that. So… Hello there!
Look at this… A Beastie lady with THE MOST amazing hair. I had so much fun styling this – I think we’d better take a closer look!
I used two shades of pink yarn to give the hairstyle some depth, and added in some soft silvery yarn in the back to mimic her human counterpart’s ‘do.
And this human counterpart – she’s a busy lady! So this Beastie has heaps of accessories. But before we get into those, let’s start with a quick costume change.
Her scarf and sweet handknitted pink cardi are both removable, as you can see. And, because various lockdowns have forced me to improvise with my existing fabric stash rather than hitting the shops to find what I need, I ended up dyeing the scarf myself! Let’s just say I’m very glad my customer went for a nice neutral grey, rather than something more difficult to match.
Anyway, that leaves Mrs Beastie free to model this pretty floral print top.
And now that she’s not wearing long sleeves, it might be a good time to get on with a spot of baking. Her magic magnetic paws will help her to hold everything.
Ready! Cupcake, anyone?
Thanks, don’t mind if I do! They look delicious.
Regular readers of this blog will be reassured to learn that, as usual, these delectable treats are free from sugar, fat, gluten, dairy products and palm oil. They’re also high in fibre – wool fibre, of course!
And while we’re on the topic of wool…
This Beastie’s new human friend is a fellow knitter, so I couldn’t send her little woolly monster out the door without a set of needles and a ball of yarn. As you can see, these ones a bit small for me to use anyway.
Finally, did you spot the bag she was carrying earlier?
Her new human family has a strong connection with horses, and I wanted to include a big shiny felt rosette somewhere as a nod to that. Beasties have no time for modesty, so it’s a proudly-displayed “Best in Show”!
Hey, is there anything in the bag?
Oh yes.
It’s a miniature first aid kit, to celebrate the fact that this Beastie’s new human minder recently briefly retired from a career in nursing. I say briefly, because when the call went out for Covid-19 vaccinators, she was back in there like a shot (no pun intended)! Definitely worthy of being celebrated with felt and teeny stitches, I’m sure you’ll agree.
Alrighty, I think that’s everything. Time to pack up and ship out!
Thanks to Suzi for requesting this awesome Beastie as a special birthday gift for her mum!
And, all being well, we’ll be back next week for another round of “Where in the World are Paddy and Plunkett?”. Be sure to join us then!
The hair is AMAZING! Nice job! Also I love her accessories! The miniature needles and yarn stole my heart!!!!
Heehee! Thanks, Tierney… Beasties gotta have their accessories π Cheers for stopping in!
Love this Beastie and all her tiny things. The magnetized hands are also a great idea. Well done! π
Why thank you! Magic magnet paws have been a great step forward in Beastie-volution… So useful for helping Beasties to interact with all their precious possessions. Cheers for popping in! π
Wow – so much intricate detail in this one!
Thanks, Simon! Prepare for more of this in future posts… Beasties have been leaving Beastie Towers just laden with accessories this past while. Cheers for swinging by! π
I’ll look forward to it!
Oh she is gorgeous and I think you are very generous to donate your smallest knitting needles to this versatile Beastie who not only knits, but bakes and rides horses too. No wonder she needs a first aid kit.
Hahaha! Yes, let’s hope she has more luck staying in the saddle than I did π Thanks for dropping by to welcome this busy new Beastie, Mariss!
Oh yum yum! Love the cupcakes ( and all the other accessories too, of course!) Did anyone else think “Zandra Rhodes” when they saw the hair or am I showing my age here?
I had the same thought about Zandra Rhodes when I saw the hair colour so, if you are showing your age, I am too!
Oh dear… I confess I had to look up Zandra Rhodes! But I’m glad I did – what a cool lady! I’m sure our Beastie friend here won’t mind the comparison at all. Thanks for stopping in, Queen Bee, I hope you were in time to grab one of those tasty cupcakes π
What a beautiful Beastie! I love the colour palette and the amazing curls in the hair.
Thanks, Laura! After all the comments on the hairdo, I’m seriously considering making a wig out of the same wool for myself… At least until I can get back to the hairdresser π Thanks for stopping in!
As always you do such an amazing job. One day I’m going to pick up my needles and try to come up with my own design. My husband is into drawing Monster every week for our grandchildren. Maybe I can pick one and work out a pattern.
Thanks, Mama Cormier! You know, I made up my Beastie pattern on the fly because I ran out of yarn in the middle of making something far less interesting, so go for it! And make sure you throw a few of your favourite techniques into the mix as well, so you’ll always enjoy making them π
Thanks for swinging by!
Thanks for the advice.
So delighted to meet this new Beastie pal. Her hair is so cool, and her pink cardi is exquisite! Those “healthy” cupcakes are splendid. So cute, Helen!
Yay! Glad you like her, Shirley… And yes, I’d definitely go for one of those cupcakes with my morning coffee π Thanks for dropping in!
Cool new beastie! And pink cakes to match her pink hair!
Thanks π She did wind up being nicely colour coordinated in the end. Cheers for dropping in!
I love, love, love that hair… and as you know I am a real sucker for all the accessories, which as usual are absolutely brilliant.
Aww, thanks Jan! The pink hair certainly does seem to be winning hearts – I’m not a “pink” girl myself but even I’m liking her style! Cheers for stopping in π
She is fantastic
Thanks Lucyann! Nice to see you again π
