Hello everybody! I’m a little later on my blogging than usual this week… But I promised you a new Beastie, and here she is!
Meet Julia Beastie! This particular monster lady was made as a very special “Yay, you finished your MA thesis” gift… And as you can see, she’s not travelling alone. She’s being kept company by her feline felt friend, Paddy the cat!
Let’s take a closer look at him, shall we?
Now, Beasties with pet cats aren’t new – you may remember that I made a few for the Dublin Cat Fair, back in November.
However, this was the first time I had attempted to copy a particular cat’s markings. Since this Beastie’s human counterpart is the proud owner of a devilishly handsome polydactyl cat, it only seemed right that Felt Paddy paid proper tribute to Real Paddy.
Fortunately, the wonders of needle felting allowed me to add tiger stripes to his coat, and give him a white nose, bib and paws!
Now, on to the Beastie herself! I love her lustrous alpaca locks…
… And the combination of delicate green skin with rich dusky rose stripes!
Next, I believe I promised you a few accessories? I thought a book might keep her entertained as she travelled to her new home…
Aaah, you can’t beat those classics! Although I adjusted this Anne Brontë novel (a favourite of Human Julia’s, I hear) sliiiightly to make it suitable for a Beastie audience.
Then, since Human Julia has already made a name for herself as a theatre reviewer, Julia Beastie had to have a notebook and pen for her own note-taking and reviewing activities.
And how about a ticket to a show, to complete the set?
“Carousel” is one of Human Julia’s favourites, so it’s fairly safe to assume that her new Beastie companion will enjoy it too. Just one thing, though…
“My paws are a bit full at the minute – maybe you could take all that cool stuff…”
“… And pop it in my backpack for me?”
“Cheers!”
And the good news for Beastie Paddy (who looks so comfortable cuddled up in Julia Beastie’s arms) is that he can stay exactly where he is while the backpack goes on!
As you can see, the straps clip into place at the base of the bag. That means they can simply be slipped around a Beastie arm and attached!
Perfect!
And better still… Here’s the pair of them meeting Paddy for the first time!
Here’s wishing them all kinds of monster adventures together!
So, thanks for joining us for this latest Beastification… I should have a monster adventure of my own to share with you next week, so be sure to swing by! Catch you then!
Adorable!!!
Thank you! 😊 I had a lot of fun with this one!
How, for God’s sake, you manage to work such tiny details??
Heehee! I think my new magic magnifier lamp has to take a little bit of the credit 😁 Cheers for popping in, Tajana… Hope your own work is going well!
I’m always so in awe when I see your craft!
And I yours! 😊
Beautifully done!
Awww, thanks Marco! And cheers for dropping in 😁
Well, aren’t they just absolutely purrrrrfect? I cannot get over the Paddy likeness–it is unbelievable, down to his super special and lovely paws! I love that Paddy gets to join in all the adventures. And the accessories!!!!! Such brilliant details and all so special. I have it on good authority that Julia Beastie is enjoying her new home and that Real Paddy’s ‘unimpressed’ look is just an act! Thank you again for an amazing job done on the most special of gifts ❤
Why thank you, Weekes! And thanks for all your help pinning down the special details for this Beastification 😁 As for Real Paddy, I took his expression to be merely assertion of his regal status when encountering this pair of woolly interlopers for the first time! Cheers for being a part of this, and for stopping in to say hello!
I always love the monsters but those cats are so gorgeous!
Awww, thanks Robin! I’m a bit of a cat person myself, so I had a blast with this one. Cheers for swinging by!
I think I want that backpack! And I definitely want a paddy, either size would do 😉
Hahaha! Me too… I can totally understand why Julia Beastie doesn’t want to put MiniPaddy down for even a second! 😂 Cheers for popping in, Hannah!
What a delightful post.. Polydactyl Paddy is even more beautiful than Beastie Julia
Awww, thanks Mariss! I can’t take all the credit though… Real Paddy made an excellent subject! Cheers for popping in 😊
I think you are being modest!
You are so incredibly talented!
Awww, thank you Laura! This was a fun one! 😁 Cheers for dropping by!
Isn’t this Beastie just the cat’s meow!? Although, I’ve seen that look in a (real) cat’s eye before. It’s the look of “I do not approve of this intruder and will maim it at the first opportunity.” I hope this Beatification also included cat-proof armor (or at least a high shelf)! Excellent work….as always :)))
Eeeek! Thanks for the warning, Tammie… Maybe cat-proof armour should come as standard in future Beastifications! Readers, take note 😂 Cheers for popping by!
Well, maybe an optional accessory. Some people are wise enough to keep their monsters away from cats.
I think even the bravest cat would steer clear of Diva McSpool! 😂
Wow, that cat turned out pretty amazing!
Thanks Emmely! Needle felting was just what I needed to get the colours right, and it’s a craft I love… It’s SO ADDICTIVE! 😁 Thanks for swinging by!
Julia Beastie’s feline friend and accessories are just adorable – wonderful (and clearly meticulous) work!
Hello Amy! And thank you… I did have fun with this project! Cheers for dropping in!
Wow, what a beautiful kitty and those cool tiny accessories! ❤
Thanks Ivonne! I’m a sucker for teeny accessories myself 😁
Doing a bit of catch up on all things Beastie today, and this is adorable! You’ve matched the stripes perfectly, and the IRL feline seems pretty pleased to meet the felt counterpart! Beautiful work, Helen. 🙂
Thanks, Shirley! It’s nice to see you back, too… I hope you’re squeezing some time for craft into your hectic schedule as well! Cheers for stopping in 😁
