Hello everybody! It’s a new week, and a new month… So I reckon we’d better have a new Beastie, too! Following my first experimental leap into the world of the Scientist Beastie…
…I got a request for another science-minded monster from the same customer, who wanted a special gift for a friend! And this one has even more of a twist, because…
… She’s also a SUPERHERO!
Here, take a look! I made her some special accessories to keep her heroic alter-ego a secret… A hand-stitched felt mask and a silky cape to billow behind her as she flies off to fight evil.
I also created a personalised superhero logo to go on her jumpsuit, in colours that complement her outfit and her delicate rose-pink complexion. Brand identity is very important in the superhero universe, y’know.
But who’s this? Looks like there’s someone else here too… Although apparently they’re feeling a little bit shy. Can we maybe see that pretty face?
Yay! That’s much better.
Supermum Scientist Beastie’s human counterpart is also a proud mum… So it only seemed right that this monster lady had a little girl Beastie of her own to keep her company. Ready for your closeup, Baby Girl Beastie?
She’s inherited her mum’s lovely pink skin tone, and her rich chestnut-coloured hair too. But hers is still baby-fine, so she loves to wear it in a cute pineapple ponytail on top of her head. I’ve completed her outfit with stripey legs and a sweet botanical-print cotton skirt!
But hey, where does the scientist bit come in?
Right now, actually. It’s time to head off to the day job! On with the lab coat…… And grab a coffee along the way!
Once she arrives, she’s got everything she needs for her working day, too. Supermum Scientist Beastie’s human counterpart is a biologist, so I made Beastified versions of some of the equipment she uses – a cell culture flask and a micropipette!
I used a combination of sewing and needle felting techniques on these accessories to get the shaping just right… I even ended up stitching the flask with fishing line to keep it as close to transparent as possible!
Phew! I reckon I just about captured all the facets of this busy Beastie’s life! What do you think?
Don’t forget to drop back in on Friday for more German shenanigans (or should that be Germanigans?) with Explorer Beastie! And if you missed part 1, you can catch up here. See you then!
Aaaaaaand here we are again!!! Well done, crafty Irish heroine!!!!
Awww, thank you Tajana! 😄 How’s your Doctor Who Beastie keeping these days? Thanks for stopping by as well, it’s always nice to see you here!
He’s suffering a lot of hear, poor thing!! Together with us 😥😥😥 thank God that the weather forecast is on our side and says that rain is coming together with some refreshment…
Me too! I can only imagine how much hotter is it for you guys where you are! 😵 At least you have an excuse to keep turning out beautiful summer clothes though… Hope that rain and cooler temperatures are heading your way soon!
You are so right! Well, I did some upgrades and I’m making some summer clothes to a friend of mine who accepted to be ne a guiennea pig (I do hope I wrote it correctly… 😱😱😱)
Oooh, exciting… I’m sure it’s going to be a fun challenge to create clothes for someone new! A good guinea pig is hard to find 😉
Oh my gosh, they are wonderful! Baby Girl Beastie is just too adorable. 🙂
Thanks, Rachel! I had fun with this one – she’s the first ever Beastie toddler! Cheers for popping in… By the way, did you start a new blog?
I didn’t really start a new one, I just rebranded my current blog. It’ll be the same content, just under a different name. I felt like I needed a change. 🙂
Aha! I started following your updated Instagram the other day, and I thought those Tough Stuff socks looked familiar! Off to check out the new-look site now 😀
OMG! It’s my favorite Beastie EVER!! (Don’t tell Finn I said that). From personal experience, I will tell you that you got that pipette perfect. Although, my lab coats were never that clean (and my bosses refused to buy me a superhero cape…that’s the real reason why I had to quit science). Amazing job :))
Oh woweeeee! Endorsement from a real human scientist! Thanks Tammie, I’m relieved I got the details right… Honestly, anyone looking through my image search history these past couple of months would really wonder what on earth I was up to! I think you did the right thing leaving science – if they wouldn’t give you a superhero cape, they clearly didn’t value your skills. And hey, now you can wear one to work every day if you choose to!
Also, I promise not to tell Finn what you said… The magnitude of that tantrum doesn’t even bear thinking about! 😆 Cheers for popping in!
My search history is probably much more frightening than yours…anything from baby/toddler growth stages to the actions of certain poisons (the FBI would probably put up a lot of flags if I tried to start a day care center)! Hmmm….a SuperWriter cape, you say? Maybe my lack of one is why I don’t feel like much of a super writer. To the sewing machine, Batman!
Ohhhhhh wow! Ok, you totally win the weird-search-off! 😂 How dull life must be for regular folks who DON’T get to look up random stuff in the course of their everyday work. And you honestly don’t have a SuperWriter cape?! Did Amazon not send you one when you hit #1 in several categories? Unbelievable!
I like to keep the FBI busy with my weird searches. Eventually they’re going to ignore me thinking I’m just researching another book…and that’s when I take over! Mwah-hahaha. As for capes, I do have a spare bed sheet that might do the trick.
It’ll do in the meantime! But given the sneaky plan for world domination that you’ve just laid out there, I’m starting to wonder if you’ll be fashioning it into a supervillain costume instead…
A felt pipette. No, really….a felt pipette. I think I have seen everything now. Where in the world would you go to see a felt pipette? Beastie Towers, of course, where the impossible is made possible on a regular basis. Is there anything you can’t make??
Heeheehee! Why thank you, Queen Bee! I did briefly think about tackling a Beastified microscope for this project, but time was too tight to figure out the workings. Maybe that would be the ultimate test? 🤔
You are a marvel. A straight up marvel. That is all.
*Blush* Thank you, Laura! It takes one to know one 😉 Cheers for popping in!
I think this is remarkable! You must have very nimble fingers.
Thanks, Mariss! As for those nimble fingers… Well, I’ve always been a bit of a fidget, and this is the best way I’ve discovered to put that to good use! 😁 Cheers for swinging by!
How supercool! I can picture her eating ice cream out of a beaker. HaHa
Heehee! I wouldn’t be surprised… We all need our brain food! 😂 Thanks so much, Ivonne! 😁
Awwwwwwwww amazingness abounds!!! How adorable is that Baby Beastie?! And I love the beautiful colour scheme. Super techie science equipment… looks like you did your research. Was it tricky doing that tiny stitching with fishing line?! Worth it for the incredible result! No doubt you had another thrilled customer ❤
Thanks Weekes! 😄 Fortunately my lovely customer was able to nudge me in the right direction on the accessories front… When I heard that this Beastie’s human counterpart was a microbiologist, I did briefly wonder if I was going to have to make a mini microscope! 😆 And teeny stitching with fishing line wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be… A slight tweaking of techniques and lots of daylight certainly helped! Cheers for swinging by! 😀
OMG a microscope – that would be insanity! Glad you were spared that challenge… for now!!!!! Bravo again 😀
Why thank you… And yes, that one’s definitely going on the to-make list!
Another amazing addition to the Beastie family! I love baby Beastie and the scientist coat 😊
Thanks, Catherine! I did have fun trying to capture all the sides of this busy lady’s personality… Cheers for dropping in! 😀
This is an absolute masterpiece! A little Beastie! All the accessories! Superhero and scientist – so awesome, mind is blown!
Heeheehee! Thanks Tierney… And it was a fun challenge capturing all the sides of this Beastie lady’s personality! Cheers for stopping by 😁
I am cracking up laughing over Tammie’s latest Beastie adventure post on the David Beastie and the library and then taking on a burger. TTQH read it too and I think secretly he wants to be Beastie-fied

Heehee! I’ll have to check that out now… I saw a sneak preview pic on Instagram last week, and I’ve been patiently waiting for the full story! 😀 Sounds like I’ll have to start knocking around some ideas for a TTQH Beastie, too…
That’s one incredible scientist-heroine! I like the idea of a Beastie with an alter-ego. The details are splendid (as always!) and Baby Girl Beastie is so cute. The botanical print on the skirt adds to her adorable-ness, and what a great colour scheme, too. And fishing wire! Wow! That’s ingenious. 🙂 Bravo!
Heehee! Thanks Shirley – I love that you always notice the teeniest of Beastie details! Sewing with fishing line was a new one for me – I wouldn’t want to be doing it every day, but it worked so much better than regular thread. Totally worth it! Thanks for stopping by to take a look! 😀
A freaking micropipette, is there anything you can’t make??
Your normal beasties are adorable so I can’t even imagine how cute baby beastie is in real life. I’d definitely be squee-ing!
Heehee! Thanks, Hannah! Fortunately my lovely customer was able to send me lots of reference photos to help me get the look of the micropipette right… I think I’d have been a bit stumped otherwise! Cheers for stopping by! 😀
