It’s new Beastie day! So it must be… Friday? Yes, we’re breaking with tradition a little here, but after giving this very special pair a brief introduction in Tuesday’s post, I couldn’t wait a whole week to give you the guided tour! This cheerful monster couple were created as a very special birthday gift for author and long-term BeastieBlog reader Tammie Painter, and were requested by her husband as a surprise to round off their recent trip to Ireland.
So, after several top-secret design discussions, we decided to dress the Beasties in miniature versions of the outfits worn by their human counterparts on their wedding day!
That meant a sophisticated black dress with pin-tucked bodice and a floaty organza top layer for Tammie Beastie…
… With a hook-and-eye fastening closure at the back. These are my new favourite dress fastening!
Meanwhile, Mr Husband Beastie was cool and casual in a Hawaiian-style shirt and shorts.
Alas, a true Hawaiian print comes up too large for Beastie-sized clothes! So I picked out a blue fabric that came as close as possible to the colours in the reference photos I worked from…
… And then added a pair of boxy-framed glasses to complete the look!
But wait a sec… What’s going on here?
Aha! Good call, Beasties!
Those hand-knitted Aran sweaters are much more suitable for exploring the Emerald Isle! Oh, and look…
… They have bags, too! A red felt backpack for Mr Husband Beastie, and a teal shoulder bag for Tammie Beastie! Now, what can they put in there?
How about a sketchbook and pen, to record the highlights of the trip?
Or maybe snacks for long bus journeys!
And if you have snacks, you’ll need something to wash them down with. Hop Monster IPA, anyone? This special Beastie brew comes in a needle-felted bottle, with hand-embroidered felt label!
Or, for the designated drivers, a nice hot cup of tea from the travel flask might be just the thing.
And last but not least… Don’t forget your reading material! This Ireland travel guide will surely come in handy, while “The Trials of Herc-Woollies” will make the plane journey home pass much more quickly!
(Oh, and human readers can pick up a copy of the non-Beastie version, “The Trials of Hercules” for FREE right now! Find out more here)
“Hmmmm… I think we’d better pack all of it, just to be on the safe side!”
And now I reckon they’re ready to go!
Bon voyage, Beasties!
Have any of you got big plans for the weekend? And if so, what will you be packing in your backpack? Tell us all about it in the comments!
Aaand we’ll be back on Tuesday as usual, with more antics from Paddy and Plunkett. See you then!

Oh my goodness! The accessories are just utterly amazing.
Thanks, Laura! Between them, I think these Beasties have even more kit that yours does! 😀 Cheers for popping in!
Oh, oh, oh, this is too awesome! The little beers! The clothing! The books! I am overwhelmed with the cuteness and sweetness!!! If there is an international accessory award I would like to award it to you!
Awwww, thank you Tierney! 😄 I’ll happily accept any awards that are going… Eeek! I should probably start work on my acceptance speech right now! 😂 Cheers for swinging by!
Hop monster. You kill me!
Now THAT I’m afraid I can’t take any credit for! Human Tammie occasionally brews her own beer and wine, and recently she happened to pick up a kit for a batch of “Hop Monster”. But of course, with a name like that, it was ripe for Beastification… I couldn’t NOT make it! 😁
You did a great job of “Beastification” (oh my goodness this is my new favorite non real word!!!)
Non-real word? Right, now it’s my mission to get “Beastification” into the dictionary! Thanks for your Beastification appreciation, Tierney!
That must have been so much fun to create! From the hook and eye closure to just the right scale print down to those Beastie-sized arans and all those accessories!!!
Thanks Mandy, it was a blast! I always love knitting teeny sweaters and clothes, but I especially enjoyed making those beer bottles! There might be more Hop Monster IPAs appearing in future Beastie accessory lineups 😀 Cheers for dropping in!
I love all the little accessories, they’re adorable!
Why thank you! I enjoyed this little lot… It was a good mix of old favourites and a few new adventures in teeny sewing 😁 Cheers for stopping in!
I love ‘New Beastie Day’
WOWZER your couple are amazing ~ as for the essential accessories they are just the bees knees
Awww, thanks Mrs P! Glad you like ’em. And I love that you describe them as “the bee’s knees”… Very apt given that Human Tammie keeps a hive in her garden! Cheers for swinging by 😁
A hive in Human Tammie’s garden? ~ how cool
I know I will repeat myself but I can’t stop telling how amazing your crafting skill is! Just look at those accessories 😍😍😍
Awww, thanks so much Tajana! And there are some things I never get tired of hearing 😁 Cheers for stopping in!
It’s the travel flask that knocks me out. Just look at that cup! The Beasties are great but I think the accessories take the biscuit (even a partly gnawed one…)
Heehee! Thanks Queen Bee… A flask was a first for me, but I think that more Beasties might head out into the world with one now after that vote of confidence! Cheers for dropping in!
Yeah, yeah, I reblogged this HOW long ago and am only now commenting on it? Ah well, busy weekend. I still can’t get over the shock of my Beastie Birthday surprise. I think Finn has set aside his Spin-agin’s Wake and is going to cart around The Trials of Herc-Woolies for a bit :))
Hahaha! I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s still reeling from how crazy busy May has been! It’s lucky nobody made ME a surprise Beastie – it probably would have been the end of me. And it’s only right & proper that Mr McSpool should earn his keep by doing a bit of promo work for you. Hopefully it’ll partially make up for all the glugs of beer he’s pinched from you over the years! Thanks for the reblog, too 😁
Nope, sorry, there’s no atoning for stealing beer.
And yet he keeps doing it anyway…😂
What’s that saying? Better to ask forgiveness than permission? 😂😂
He seems to have got THAT down to a fine art!
This Beastification is absolutely amazing! 😍 The adorableness and thoughfulness of all the details is off the charts. The little dress and clasp closure on Tammie Beastie is a work of art, as is the expertly tailored Hawaiian shirt. And all the little accessories are such a delight (that little sandwich is, like… *speechless* and the little Thermos with the cup/lid is like *more speechless*). Bravo on the awesome work, Helen, and thanks as always for sharing the magic!!
Oh woweeee! I’m seriously blushing here… Thanks Shirley! You always notice all the little things. I hope you’ve recovered your powers of speech by now! 😉 Cheers as always for dropping in!
THIS IS ALL SO PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mr Husband really went all out!!! And I bet Finn will be glad to have some new books to read (if these guys share!) haha. Lordeeee where to begin! Love the close-ups of the black dress – totally fab. And that IPA would sell out on the shelves of the local craft beer shop! You captured so many facets of Tammie’s personality/life with this. So good!!!!!! ❤
Oh woweeee, thank you lovely Weekes! High praise indeed 😊 I’d definitely treat myself to a bottle or two of Hop Monster if they made it in human size… For now, I’ll just have to settle for the monster tea I found in a German supermarket the other day! Cheers for stopping by!
Oooooh monster tea – that sounds exciting! Specially brewed to be enjoyed in a felt cup?
Heehee! Yes, I’ll definitely give that a try! 😆
So cute ^^
Why thank you! Cheers for visiting! 😀
Helen, you are just the best! I’m in awe …
Thanks Ivonne! It was so fun making all these bits… I have to confess that the beer bottles were probably my favourites though! Cheers for swinging by! 😁
