Woweeee! It really has been all systems go here at Beastie Towers lately – and in between getting Christmas commissions ready and starting a new job, I haven’t been able to go to half as many of the festive markets as I would have liked. Fortunately, I booked my spot at the Dublin Christmas Flea at the end of October, and I decided that come hell, high water or complete sleep deprivation I was going to be there!
It’s one of the markets I’ve been hoping to go to since I first became a Maker of Monsters, and this year they annexed an extra space in the Point Village in Dublin’s Docklands to make it their biggest event yet. So many stalls of crafty goodness… Plus some excellent vintage and food sellers as well!
Oh yeah, and the Beasties and I were there too!
Here we are, all set up and ready for Day One… And then a few more Beasties and beanies arrived throughout the weekend…
…Then it was all paws on deck come Sunday! Hallowe’en Beasties don’t usually hang out at Christmas markets, but the prospect of new friends and a new home was too good to miss…
By the time 6pm rolled around on Sunday, almost every one of my little monsters had toddled off with their new family!
Thanks so much to everybody who stopped in to visit us over the weekend – it was lovely to meet you all, especially those of you I already know a bit from your blogs, or from Instagram and Facebook! And a big thumbs up for the Dublin Flea team as well, who put in an immense amount of work to beautify the venue and let all of Dublin know that the market was happening. Best of all, they gave me a spot right next to the tea stall! You guys are the best!
Right, I’m off to start getting ready for next year’s market now… And for anyone who left the Christmas Flea with a new monster friend in tow, please feel free to share photos of your Beastie’s adventures with us back here at Beastie Towers! You can post to Facebook, share your Instagram pics with the hashtag #beastiesofinstagram, or email photos to email@example.com to feature in a blog post in the new year!

Wow! Congratulations on getting so many Beasties adopted out!!! And great job getting into the market – it’s always exciting to get your creative goodies into a spot/market you’ve admired.
Thanks Tammie! And it DID feel great to get to that market at last… Something (usually Other Work) always got in the way before. Now I see what all the fuss was about! The Dublin Christmas Flea is definitely worth a look if you ever find yourself in Dublin at this time of the year 😀
Awesome to read that it was a busy day and all the Beasties have new homes. Congrats! The market looks beautiful. Looking forward to more Beastie news. 🙂
Thank you! It was a bit of a crazy blur, but I had so much fun meeting all my Beastie people! I’m DEFINITELY going again next year. More Beastie news next Tuesday… Pre-Christmas madness permitting! Cheers for stopping by 😀
Brilliant stall, and good to see the Beastie Banner being pressed into service as a table cover. It sure is one eye-catching Beastie portrait! Have you any idea how many visitors came through the market?
Yes, the organisers were keeping count over the whole weekend… Final total 26,000 people over the 3 days 😱 With those numbers, I might have to bring along a few more Beasties next year! Thanks for your comment 😀
Look at all those nice well behaved beasties! You make them so well! ☺
Thanks Simon! How’s the pre-Christmas madness treating you?
It’s being a bit stressful and all right now. I’m hoping it gets easier.
Tell me about it! Hope it eases up soon… I have my eyes on the prize though – Christmas Eve evening, mince pie, mulled wine, BREAK! 😀
Oooh don’t. That sounds too good! There’s still the day to get out of the way but still… Will the beasties be joining you for Christmas?
Well, since all of them went to new homes at the market, I reckon it’ll be just me and Explorer Beastie this year! I’d better get busy making some more 😀
It’s explorer beastie your beastie then? At least you have one! Just think about how your beasties are getting all over the world!
Yes, Explorer Beastie lives here with me! I got quite attached to him when I was making him, so he had to stay 😀 I do love hearing about where my Beasties end up too! I know that there are some living in Canada, the USA, Japan, Singapore, Dubai, Germany and Italy… And those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head!
It must be a real sense of pride to know that your beasties get that far! 🙂
You have to have one Beastie for you, so look after explorer beastie!
But of course! We’re looking forward to lots of new adventures in the coming year! Thanks for your comment – as you can see, I’ve been taking a little break over Christmas 😆 – and all the best for 2017!
I hope you enjoyed your break! ☺
YES! Oh wow, it was so nice to put my feet up for a couple of days and hang out with my family! Did you get much time off yourself?
I got time off from work but at home it’s not exactly restful
I suppose Christmas is hardly a restful time if you’ve got a family to keep entertained! It sounds like you need a shed…
I have one but its full of crap that was in my garage when i had one. But yes… It gets nuts…
I had my hands full before Christmas so I’m commenting on this blog post wayyyy late. I’m so happy for you that a lot of your beasties found a new home. You must be really proud of yourself and I guess full of new ideas. 😀
All the best for the new year to you and the beasties!
Hahaha! As you can probably tell, I’m a little behind myself 😆 Happy new year to you and your family (both human and assorted woolly critters) and I’m now off to see what you’ve been up to over the last couple of months!
