Regular BeastieBlog readers will know that Explorer Beastie and I were literally away with the fairies a couple of weeks ago! But as I was tidying up the photo files from our trip away, I saw that there were loads of other non-fairy photos that I hadn’t had a chance to use. Away from the hubbub of Fairyville, there was a whole forest for Explorer Beastie to investigate – let’s join him, shall we?
Here we go! The undergrowth was pretty dense in some places…
…But elsewhere we found shortcuts better suited to little short Beastie legs!
Soft mossy patches also make the perfect place to stop for a quick nap…
… And we even found a natural paddling pool in a tree stump!
There was also plenty of clover growing in the forest – surely ONE of these is the lucky four-leafed kind?
Explorer Beastie also found somewhere to test his Christmas Fairy skills!
Hmmm… there might be room for you at the top of the tree this year…
That said, Explorer Beastie will climb pretty much any tree he can find!
But just when we thought we’d gone through the whole fairy forest without meeting a single magical creature… we caught a glimpse of these through the trees!
Wooooah! REAL FAIRIES!
It’s going to be hard to top this on our next day trip!
Have you had a brush with the magical or mysterious lately? Let us know in the comments!
Oh Explorer Beastie, that’s wood sorrel not clover… I’m sure it’s much more magical though!
Erk! Thanks Dr Snail… Clearly we need to brush up on our woodland plants! You’ll be relieved to hear that I will NOT be taking Explorer Beastie up on his invitation to go foraging for wild food any time soon… 😆
In a past life I was a botanical surveyor… perhaps EB needs a Botanist Beastie friend (complete with hand lens and flora).
Perhaps he does! It could open up a whole new theme for blog posts, too… Has anyone else any suggestions for new Beastie characters?
That forest does indeed look magical. I can think of four human beasties who would love to explore there.
There’s plenty for them to do if you ever find yourselves there… Including a rather spiffy adventure playground! There are also meant to be red squirrels living in the forest, but we didn’t meet any of them. Maybe next time… Thanks for stopping by! 😀
What fun and what a lovely spot! I think Finn and Explorer Beastie need a play date so they can climb trees in tandem.
Definitely! Perhaps Explorer Beastie could hold Finn’s treasured copy of “Spin-egans Wake” so he can climb properly…
I don’t know, he’s quite attached to it. 😂😂😂
More great pictures! I’m not sure why, but I find the real fairies a little unsettling…
Hmmm… Might be the quality of the photograph. I was only able to take a couple, and all of them came out a bit strange. Spooky fairy powers at work, perhaps?
Hmm, actually, now that you mention it I do see that. The little bit of blur in the photo gives them the illusion of movement. Or maybe you caught them moving. 🙂 Spooky fairies rock, it’s a great pic. 🙂
Thanks! I’m also a fan of spooky fairies… Although I do still have a soft spot for Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies!
