Beastie Fall Festivities!

Hello there Beastie friends! Erk, not such good news from Dublin this week… As of last night, all of Ireland has moved to the highest level of Covid-19 restrictions to try to get our case numbers back under control. But it’s not all doom and gloom! Autumn (or Fall) is here in all its glory, and October is my very favourite month to get out and enjoy some natural beauty.

And it looks like I’m not alone in this. Look who I bumped into in the park!
Autumn Beastie, by CrawCrafts BeastiesYou don’t see one of these guys very often – it’s Autumn Beastie! This little monster has been picking out the choicest fallen leaves for… Some ill-defined Beastie purpose. But there’s a great selection in there, and look at those colours!

Then, further along…
… I found a pair of Aran Beasties too! They were happy to pose for a photo.

That’s two extra pairs of paws to help with the leaf hunt! Good stuff. And it looks like further reinforcements are on the way too.
Woolly Jumper Beastie Joins In - Fall fun - CrawCrafts BeastiesHey there Woolly Jumper Beastie… Wow, this is turning into a full Fall Festival out here! And it’s definitely sweater weather today, with so many cosy knits to admire.

Wait, MORE Beasties?!

Hurling Beastie - Fall Fun in the Park - CrawCrafts Beasties… Up pops Hurling Beastie! This little sportsmonster was keen to get a team together for a match, but with one hurl between four Beasties, it sadly wasn’t going to add up. Sorry! Maybe next week, eh?
Hurling Beastie, by CrawCrafts BeastiesHow about you? Are you enjoying being out and about, kicking through piles of fallen leaves? Or is your Fall experience more of the hot-chocolate-by-a-roaring-fire variety? Be sure to tell us all about it in the comments!

And as usual we’ll be back next week, with more shenanigans from Beastie Towers… See you then!

  1. Lovely colours! And lovely colours of the Hurling Beastie too. So which county team does he play for and can I buy tickets for the next match? Another question…..how are you going to control a house full of Beasties during a six week Covid lock down?

    1. Hahaha! You might be waiting a while until there’s another public match… But in the meantime, we might set up a Beastie 5-a-side that people can watch online. As for the colours, I remember blue and white are the colours of Co. Waterford from a commission I did a while back… But I just checked online and this Beastie could also pledge allegiance to Laois, Cavan or Monaghan!
And how will I keep all these little monsters under control? Ummm… I didn’t think that far ahead 😳 Help! Please visit my online store and adopt a Beastie before my home descends into complete monster mayhem!!

    1. Thanks! And yes, although they don’t have to do the distancing thing (Beastie science has determined that they are immune and non-carriers), they’re making an effort anyway to help us humans feel better. Cheers for joining us for our day out! 😊

    1. Thanks, Tierney! I wasn’t expecting to bump into quite so many in the park that day myself πŸ˜‰ Hope you’re staying safe (and sane) where you are too, and cheers for stopping in!

  2. Oh what fun. Lucky Beasties to be immune to the virus. I hope they expressed appropriate appreciation for the marvellous range of winter woollies that have been made for them. So, I assume that Beaties also feel the cold.

    1. Hmmm, you make an interesting point… Some of them really seem to appreciate the extra warmth of a sweater as the days get cooler here, others appear to get all the heat they need from their naturally fuzzy woolly skin! It looks like Beastie science still has a way to go before we figure everything out about these critters πŸ˜‰ Thanks for popping in, Mariss!

  3. Delightful — it seems that Autumn Beastie has drawn a bit of a crowd. I’m glad to know that, in spite of the people-world restrictions, this woolly gang was able to enjoy the beautiful day together. Do Beasties rustle the leaves when they walk, like people? And I notice that one of the lovely handmade leaves is from a gingko tree? My favourite! Cheers to the Beastie party! 🍻

    1. Thanks, Shirley! And well done for picking out the ginkgo leaf in Autumn Beastie’s bundle… I have to confess a bit of a fondness for them too 😊 I love their vivid yellow colour in the autumn and distinctive shape. Plus you have to have respect for a species that’s barely changed for hundreds of millions of years! Oh, and to answer your question – being considerably smaller than us, Beasties don’t get the same rustle from a fall of leaves and we do. But they can get a similar effect by jumping on them, and they’re fine with that 😁 Cheers for joining our Beastie park party!

  4. Um, if I know Beasties, I have a feeling those leaves are being collected for some sort of burlesque dance routine. Or wait, maybe that’s just what Finn would do.

As for restrictions….I’m kind of jealous you have leadership that takes it seriously. Regardless of the soaring case numbers here, seems like most Americans are living like it’s 2019.

    1. Hahaha! Now I’m sorry I didn’t stick around to find out what the leaves were for… How naive of me to think they were just being helpful πŸ˜‚
As for our restrictions – the leadership are taking it seriously, and like you I’m all in favour of that! I’ll sacrifice a couple of Christmas markets if it means our infection rates bottom out. My fellow citizens, however… Much less so πŸ™„ All the more reason to stay home and knit though, right? Cheers for stopping in, Tammie!
