Well hello there everyone! This week I’m finally getting around to sharing a sort-of-commission that was requested by long-term BeastieBuddy Jan, who blogs at The Snail of Happiness. She already opened her home to a pair of Beasties last summer…
… But following a Grand Slam victory for Wales in the Six Nations rugby tournament earlier this year, she thought a special celebratory addition to their wardrobe was in order. So I found a willing Beastie model to help me get the sizing right, and TA-DAAAAAAH!
One Beastified Wales Rugby jersey!
We decided to go for a classic short-sleeved shirt, with a crisp white felt collar. Then I embroidered the Welsh Rugby Union logo on one side…
… And added an appliquéd number 8 on the back!
The significance of the number 8 is still a mystery to us here at Beastie Towers, but it’s clearly got some sort of special meaning to Jon Beastie and his human counterpart. I’m keeping an eye on their blog in case an explanation is forthcoming!
And here is the jersey, being expertly modelled by Jon Beastie himself! Looking good, sir!

(Plus I was able to heave a sigh of relief that it fitted!)
Any other sports-loving Beasties out there? Be sure to tell us all about your monster fan moments in the comments below!
And we’ll be back next week with some late spring shenanigans from Paddy and Plunkett… Hope to catch you then!
I love it and JonBeastie says he is already looking forward to the Rugby World Cup where he can join Auguste and Dogdee in fun like this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEXTUXfwGMc
Oh yes please! All of us here at Beastie Towers can’t wait to see Jon Beastie’s YouTube debut! 😁 I loved the video – animated Beasties have been on my wish list FOREVER. Does stop motion really take as long to do as I’ve heard? Cheers for swinging by, and I’m glad this Beastie tailoring venture was a success! 😊
Stop motion does take a long time, longer when you a) don’t use armatured models (so things without a flexible internal skeleton) and b) don’t know what you’re doing. The 3 second rugby clip took about an hour to do because it involved solving some problems like how to teach Dogdee to throw a ball to Auguste. He got it in the end. Well, they both did.
Totally worth it! They’ll be joining us with the Welsh squad before you know it 😁 Thanks for the tips, too!
So glad the jersey fitted. Of course when it comes to beasties one size does not fit all
It’s true! Every Beastie is unique, so it was lucky I had one of a similar size on hand to serve as my model! 🙂 Thanks for popping in, Mariss!
I am nearly fainting – that is too brilliant! I see my tierneycreates Beastie needs to extend her wardrobe as there are so many well dressed Beasties out there!
Say the word and it shall be done! Well, once I clear a few of these WIPs… The work of a monster maker is never done! 😆 Cheers for popping in, Tierney!
Aww, that’s cute enough to almost make me like sports. I think Finn might be trying his paw at some paddle boarding for the first time this season tomorrow, but I’m really waiting to see the Kermit-inspired cycling Beastie with crazy long, LONG legs. Okay, now I can’t get the image of Kermit toodling around on his bike of of my head :))
Are you sure teeny sewing doesn’t count as a sport? I reckon it does… Anyway, I hope Finn stayed on his paddleboard, and was able to sit still long enough to ensure that you didn’t both get tipped into the river 😆
As for the long-legged cycling Beastie… THAT’S how I can make it work. Gosh, you’re a genius! And I now have the happy thought of Kermit on his bike to see me through this afternoon’s work. Thank you, Tammie!! 😊
Teeny Sewing. It’ll be the newest Olympic sport, I’m sure! Wait, are you really making a cycling Beastie? Are we talking a sun-dress wearing Beastie on a beach cruiser or a Tour de France Beastie. If it’s the TdF, I can’t wait to see you pull off the racing helmet and spandex shorts. Hold on, maybe I shouldn’t use the term “pull off” in reference to shorts… :))
Especially not spandex shorts! 😜 I have made cycling Beasties in the past, but fortunately I’ve never had to navigate the murky waters of figuring out how they’d pedal with their little stubby legs 😂
