Hello everybody, and happy Friday to you all!
It’s been all go here in Beastie Towers. Earlier in the week, I had a birthday… I was *cough* 29!
(Again)
And I hope none of you are hungry, because I celebrated with THESE. Thanks, Boyfriend!
Did someone say “birthday doughnuts”? Oooh, go on then! π @OffbeatDonuts pic.twitter.com/Og2p4ovj2w

It’s hard to see in the photo, but the box and tissue paper lining are printed with pictures of monsters, too… Now I’m NEVER going to be able to put that in the recycling!
Also from the Twittersphere… Another completed colour-in calendar page! Thanks for sharing, Tammie!
Mine’s finally done! Have you gotten your Beastie #coloring page yet? Grab one for free at…https://t.co/M3ktATuifW@crawcrafts#coloringbookpic.twitter.com/uqEc2LTawo

I was delighted to get Beastie greetings from some monsters overseas as well! Climber Beastie dropped in from this rugged mountain range…
…And here’s SinΓ©ad Beastie. She brought a friend to the party!
You can see more of SinΓ©ad’s adventures on Daze and Weekes, here!
Speaking of adventures, Paddy and Plunkett were at large again earlier in the week. And while Paddy’s reimagining of “A Knight’s Tale” got the most laughs…
… There was also a murmur of interest in this traditional Irish river curragh, housed in the same museum.
This is extra exciting for me, because my Dad made it! So, I thought I’d pop in a link to his curragh-building Facebook page today, in case any of you wanted to find out a little more about these awesome historical boats and how they’re constructed!
And finally, don’t forget it’s St Patrick’s Day this weekend! I’m starting the celebrations early with a spot of knitting (what else?) at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
You see, for the last 6 weeks, my local yarn shop has been hosting free knitting, crochet and felting sessions, led by me and my fellow crafters Aoibhe NΓ and Niki Collier. We’ve been helping people from the local community to get together and make little handmade gifts, which will be given away to visitors to the Cathedral over the festival weekend. So, if you’re in the area, pop along and say hello… and maybe learn a new skill!
Otherwise, swing by again on Tuesday to meet the latest addition to the Beastie family! See you then!
Happy birthday ππΈπΊπ
Thanks, Tricia! ππ€
Ahhh ain’t it good to be 29! Again! Forever! Those donuts look amazing. And Tammie did a ridiculously good job with her colouring. I’m glad Sinead and Puffer were able to help you celebrate! As you can tell from the photograph, Puffer wanted to take things to the next level and was leaning in for a kiss…. but fortunately, Sinead decided to keep her wool intact and made a run for it just in time! Awww, what wholesome St Paddy’s Day activities you have planned – how sweet! I hope you have fun times… it’s so kind of you to share your skills and give back to the community in that way. β€
Heehee, I’m glad you see it that way… In reality, I was kinda undoing St Patrick’s work a little by getting people to knit snakes! π Cheers for sending Sinead and her beau to join the festivities, even if that fishy guy did try to take advantage of the situation a bit! Still, they’ll all be welcome again at next year’s 29th birthday celebrations π Thanks for your comment, Ms Weekes!
Hahaha knit snakes – brilliant! How subversive of you! And you’ll have to let me know what it’s like/how it’s goin being 29…. I wouldn’t understand, being only 19 myself.
Oh yes, of course! Being 29 is great… I intend to remain this age for many years to come.
Oh, these donuts look so good. I think I gained another ring around my waist just by looking at them. Haha:-D
I’m totallly in love with the idea of local crafters teaching their skills to the willing to learn and then giving away the results. So lovely!!!
Thanks, Ivonne! And yes, the doughnuts were delicious… Although an extra trip to the pool this week might be in order π The community knitting has been great – I’ve met some awesome local crafters through the programme. And the organisers are so happy with how it went that they’re hoping to do more projects just like this throughout the year! π
That sounds so cool! Crafters unite!
Definitely! I’d especially like to do something fun around Hallowe’en… There’s a holiday that’s just MADE for crafting!
Happy birthday! That is a really great initiative you and your fellow crafters are out of. Well done! I hope many more are bitten by the creativity bug,
Thanks, Catherine! Yes, I hope so too… Plus getting together to make something has to be one of the most satisfying ways to spend a day! π
Birthday donuts! Yum! Happy 29, 29, 29, etc. birthday π
Adorable Beastie coloring page!
Thanks, Tierney! There’s still time to get your own colouring page if you want to impress us all with your artistic skills too! π Cheers for the birthday greetings as well… It’s nice to see someone else using my counting system!
A very happy belated re-29th birthday! (and many happy returns). I hope the celebrations are continuing into this week! Those doughnuts look absolutely to die for! Lovely to see more Beastie community updates, too. π And, your dad has incredibly curragh-building skills – that is so cool! Hope you enjoyed St. Paddy’s as well – here in Chicago, they dye the Chicago river bright green in honour!
Thanks, Shirley! Hope you had a super weekend too… For some reason they never try to dye the Liffey green for St Patrick’s Day, but maybe that’s because it’s naturally a little greenish anyway π Cheers for the birthday greetings as well… I’m looking forward to turning 29 again next year already! π
Happy birthday! (Sorry I’m a wee bit late)
Why thank you! Belated greetings mean I can drag out my birthday “festival” for another few days, hurrah! ππ
What?! I made it onto the Friday Social again?! And then I embarrassingly don’t stop by and comment until four days later (where in the world did that weekend disappear to). I have to say, Climber Beastie looks very adventurous in those “rugged” mountains. And I love the idea of monster birthday donuts. Hope you have a great many 29th birthdays! ; ))
Ah yes, the rule of thumb is that everything is better with monsters… Even doughnuts! Who knew? π As for the Friday Social double feature – well, I could hardly NOT shine a spotlight on your mad colouring “skillz”, could I? Plus I thought featuring you and not Finn would help restore some balance to your household… π Thanks for popping in!
Ah, I was wondering why he was being so quiet this weekend. Thanks for that!
I think you’ve earned it at this point! πππ
