Hey there everybody! And happy Tuesday!
I’m doing a little bit of reblogging today… Well, how could I not share this? It seems like long-time BeastieBuddy Tammie Painter’s little knitted tearaway, Finn McSpool, has been out enjoying the sights and sounds of quirky Veneta, Oregon… And luckily Tammie was there to take pictures! Thanks to her, you’ll all be getting a double helping of BeastieBlog this week… I’ll be back on Friday to share some of my current bloggy favourites.
In the meantime, take it away, Tammie!
(Oh, and if you’re in the Portland, OR area, don’t forget to swing by her latest art show, in West Linn Lutheran Church Creative Spirits Gallery! Find full details on her blog)https://tammiepainter.com/2017/07/08/beasties-bears-and-other-venetian-creatures/
As you may know, earlier this week was Independence Day in the U.S.. Due to my disgust and embarrassment with our horrible excuse for a president, I had no intention of celebrating the holiday, but I did manage a little getaway during the long weekend since my dad invited me to the wild and crazy town of Veneta, Oregon.
Okay, Veneta (not to be confused with the region of Italy called the Veneto) isnβt really all that exciting, but itβs where my dad has set up camp in his RV for the time being and the tiny town has some fancy new lodgings he wanted me to try out. So, with invitation and reservation in hand, Mr. Husband and I headed south. And of course, Finn had no intention of being left behind.
We spotted our first bit of excitement while cruising down I-5. A bear sighting! And not justβ¦

That’s a well travelled Beastie! π
Yes, Finn is definitely one of the best Beastie adventurers out there!
Do you hear from him regularly?
I do! He pops up fairly often on Tammie’s blog, Twitter & Instagram, where he lends a paw in whatever she has going on – novel writing, artwork, disposing of excess cake… π
He is all over the place. I’m sure he lends a hand with the cake happily π
Yep. He definitely gets that from me π
You’re so giving! Lol π
What a fabulous yurt! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…..next time I’m coming back as a Beastie. These guys have all the fun in the world and I’m sure we only get to hear a little of what goes on with so many of them out there! Get yourselves a Beastie. It will enhance your life!
Heehee, thanks for your ringing endorsement, Queen Bee! You are hereby promoted to Head of Marketing! But there is a lot of truth in that (even if I do say so myself)… Since I started taking pictures of the Beasties on my days out, I find I notice so much more. You really do see things from a different perspective!
Thanks for the reblog, Helen. Finn still hasn’t realized his most recent moment of fame. If I can just keep the iPad out of his paws today, I should be safe from any burst of ego mania. Oh, and love the new profile pic, by the way!!
No, thank YOU for writing my Tuesday post for me! πππ And I’m sure if you bake another delicious cake and leave it somewhere in Finn’s eyeline, you’ll be safe from any outbreaks of celebrity-itis…
(Also, thanks for noticing the new picture! My mum finally got a good shot by perching on a kitchen chair and catching me off guard… You should have seen the ones that didn’t make the cut! π)
Glad to help! π As far as cake goes, it’s hard to keep out of monster reach, what with their climbing skills and all! If you could send your mom over to get as good a shot of me, I’m in desperate need of one…or I could come over to her, whatever works ππ
Up to you… I’ll see if she’s willing to travel. She usually is, as long as she ends up somewhere warmer than here! I think the real skill she showed was her gritty determination to get a good picture… Turns out what my face needs from a photographer is the patience of a saint. Are you thinking of changing yours? I like your current one!
That picture is about 6 years old and I was forced to have it taken for a magazine article I wrote about dog care. I typically run as fast as possible when cameras come out since I HATE my face (passport renewal time was horrible)! And, wait, aren’t most places warmer than Ireland? ππ
Hahaha! I hear you… The phrase “oh, that’s not right… I’ll just delete that one right away” cropped up more than once when we were trying to get that one usable picture π And my old one was taken about 7 years ago, so I figured I needed to switch up! As for our lovely climate, I hear some parts of Greenland, Siberia and Antarctica are cooler at certain times of the year π
Damn, and I was really hoping for a photo shoot with your mom in Antarctica. After all, with a thick enough parka, who would see my face!? πππ
Hahaha! πππ Well, if you’re going to go that route, why not just put up a picture of Kenny from South Park? Problem solved!
That reminds me…I did once have a picture of a cartoon character that looked freakishly like me. I’m going to go dig that up.
Ooooh, the perfect compromise! I’m interested to see this now! π
Of course, now I can’t find it anymore. Internet search to the rescue!
How did we ever survive without it?!
Thanks for sharing this, Helen. It’s always interesting and impressive to see how far your Beasties have traveled (happy to know that the beasties are stateside, and stay true to their adventurous spirit wherever they go). π Also, terrific new profile picture!
Thanks Shirley – on both counts! I still get a kick out of seeing where the Beasties travel to as well… That novelty never wears off! π As for the new pic, I figured it was about time. The last one was about to celebrate its 7th birthday! π³
Hmmm…Did this post change maybe? Can’t seem to find the link…
Uh-oh! It might have done… I’m in the process of switching up my blog a little (exciting changes coming soon, by the way! π) and that could have affected my ability to reblog. You’ll find the full post at https://tammiepainter.com/2017/07/08/beasties-bears-and-other-venetian-creatures/
Thanks for the heads-up… I’ll take a closer look and see what’s going on there!
Nice thanks! And nice new look for the blog by the way!
Why thank you! Glad you like it. And cheers for pointing out that little hiccup, I would have missed it otherwise!
