Hallowe’en Is Coming…

…And this year, I’ve actually had a chance to start getting under way with some seasonal special edition Beasties! Today, I’m excited to introduce you to my first “Famous Monsters” Beastie – Frankenbeastie!
Frankenbeastie, by CrawCrafts BeastiesCobbled together from discontinued dyelots and abandoned WIPs, this little monster hasn’t enjoyed the same precise stitching as some of my other creations…
Who sewed this guy together? CrawCrafts Beasties… And the tailoring of his outfit leaves a lot to be desired as well.

So, what’s the verdict – a thing that should not be, or a misunderstood creature who makes us question what it means to be a Beastie? Let me know in the comments!

And as if that wasn’t enough excitement for one week, I made some time over the weekend to peruse the latest issue of online crafty magazine Olann And. Look who made a special guest appearance in their Handmade in Ireland feature!
Knitter Barrรณg Beastie, by CrawCrafts BeastiesYou can read the full feature here – Knitter Beastie was delighted to be included in the lineup alongside so many other great Irish handmade goodies! There’s also a new edition of the Olann And Podcast up on YouTube, which I’m looking forward to checking out on my next day off. If you want to beat me to it, you can find it here… But no spoilers, please!

We’ll be back on Friday with another blast from the Beastie past – in the meantime, have a great week!

  1. Ok… so…. I’m in love!! It was a mistake being away from blogland because only now I realize for real how much I missed your lovely beasties!

    1. Awwwww, thank you! I’ve missed your bloggings too… mind you, I’m missing a lot of bloggings lately, because I never have as much time to read them as I’d like! Look out for more Famous Monsters over the coming weeks, too ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Graveyarn? Brilliant! Most of the time autocorrect makes a fool of me, but yours seems to be remarkably witty! Yes, I suppose it is time for me to get the ball rolling for this year’s Beastie calendar, and Frankenbeastie would be a prime candidate for the October spot! What’s the verdict, would anyone be interested in a 2017 Beastie calendar? And who would you like to see included?

    1. Thank you! It was great to finally breathe some life into this little monster… He’d been haunting the “in progress” box for too long. And I’m so grateful to Olann And for the mention… Every little bit helps! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Congratulations!!! How great to be mentioned on Olann And … I hope you will be flooded with beastie-orders.

Frankenbeastie of course is super cool and very handsome. Does he have a bride, yet … ? (hint)

    1. Bride of Frankenbeastie? How did I not think of that?! If I have time before the big day, I might give this a shot… I can picture her already! Honestly, what I wouldn’t give for an extra 4 productive hours in every day… ๐Ÿ˜†

      1. I know … I could need some extra hours of finishing the new ideas in my head and then finishing some actual items. ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. I can’t believe I was away when you were whisked away into the Realm of Fame. Congratulations (even if it’s a bit belated)!!!!! If FrankenBeastie gets a bride, will there be a Doctor FrankenBeastie and Igor in the making as well?

    1. Why thank you! The Beasties’ brief brush with fame has made them hungry for more… They are now petitioning some of those hateful reality channels for their own show. MTV (Monster Television) may be interested… ๐Ÿ˜‰
As for the Frankenbeastie family, I did actually consider doing a mad scientist as well, but I’m not sure if I’ll have time before the end of the month! So many monsters, so little time…

      1. Speaking as a former mad scientist myself, a mad scientist beastie would be a Year-Round kind of monster. Wait, does that now make me a freelance beastie consultant? ๐Ÿค“

        1. Congratulations! Your application for the position of Freelance Beastie Consultant has been successful! Your tireless efforts will be rewarded by seeing your ideas eventually incarnated in glorious wool and felt. Mad Scientist Beasties actually offer a whole heap of possibilities, now I think about it… I’m glad you’ve freed them from the constraints of Hallowe’en! Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜€

        2. Ha! Yeah, but what Christmas shop recruits staff in April?! Mind you, I’ve worked enough retail Christmases to know exactly what awaits in the last quarter of the year. The horror! The horror! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

        3. Christmas shoppers are scarier than any Halloween monster! I might consider having groceries delivered during the month of December just to avoid stepping foot in any store.

        4. Good thinking! Unfortunately I’ll be working in a store, so I’m already bracing myself for a month and a half of terrible music and sulks because I won’t fetch the last purple tree ornament from the furthest reaches of the window display!

        5. I have always been curious how retail staff don’t go absolutely bonkers having to hear Christmas carols all day for weeks on end. I can barely stand it for the few minutes I have to be in the store.

        6. Actually, traditional carols would be a godsend. It’s the modern songs that drive me round the bend – Christmas number ones from the 80s and 90s, and those schmoozy Bing Crosby croonings. Urrrrgh! I cope by being a flake and only working part-time ๐Ÿ˜‰

        7. I hit “like” there out of sympathy, for your predicament. But that song is only the second worst… The crown belongs to “Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time”! ๐Ÿ˜ค
