Flashback Friday – Baker Girl Beastie

It’s time for another browse through the BeastieBlog archives… and since we’ve been talking a lot about treats already this week, it only seemed fair to have another treat-y Beastie to see us into the weekend! Hands up who remembers…
Baker Girl Beastie, by CrawCrafts Beasties…Baker Girl Beastie!

I made this Beastie at the start of 2015, and she was one of my first “real” commissions. It was exciting to be making a monster for someone who I didn’t previously know… and a little nerve-racking, too!

Fortunately, the lady who requested this little monster girl had a good idea of what she wanted. First up – red hair, to match her own…

One thing I noticed while putting this post together was how much my Beastie photography has improved in the past year and a half, even if I do say so myself! It just goes to show that practice makes… um… maybe not perfect, but definitely better!

It’s been a while since I heard from Baker Girl Beastie… hopefully either she or her human will see this and drop us a line! Then again, perhaps she’s training hard for the next season of “The Great British Bake Off”! Are any of you planning to spend some time in the kitchen this weekend? Let us know in the comments!

  1. I’m just going to make a nice dinner tonight, but there’s no bakery included… well, not so bad since I’m going to cook two sea basses but before them we will have peppered mussels… and some good white wine of course…. I’ll bake some cakes next week…. Would you like to come and have some? πŸ™‚

    1. Yum, yes please! I saw your plum jam on Instagram the other day too… It looked delicious! I’ll be looking out for tales of your baking adventures next week, and I hope your enjoyed your special dinner πŸ˜€

    1. Why is it that I’m picturing those livers hanging off a belt or necklace? I’m sure Human Julia would never have done that… Then again, Beastie Julia is a monster! πŸ˜† Julia Child Beastie is still churning around in my brain juice, as I try to figure out how to render her hairdo accurately in wool… Cheers for the reminder πŸ˜€

      1. Julia Child Beastie? OMG, that would be hilarious! Her cooking shows are still (or again?) running here on tv. Just recently she had the young Martha Steward in her kitchen …

… and those cupcakes look delicious!

        1. Why thank you! I actually had no idea that Julia Child was so well-known… The first time I heard of her was when the book “Julie and Julia” came out, and then they made a movie of it a couple of years afterwards. I’ll have to track down some of her cooking shows online… As “research”, of course!

        2. I didn’t know her before I came to the States. But there’s a TV channel here called ‘CREATE’ and among other things (like knitting shows) they have her old cooking show running. πŸ˜€ It must be from the 80s maybe? She and her co-chefs wear some
          interesting outfits. πŸ˜€

        3. Yeah, those cooking shows are the worst. First they make you go and shop for ingredients, then mess up the kitchen and then to eat and eat and eat. πŸ˜€

    1. Hahaha! I’m sure Baker Girl Beastie would be delighted to know that she’s now got her own theme song! You can take some of the credit for Doughnut Beastie, actually… I had the idea after reading your London foodie post a couple of months back!
