We’ve been having some pretty crazy weather here these last few weeks… But Paddy and Plunkett never let an unexpected snowfall get in their way! Let’s see what they’ve been up to!
Oh woweee! Thanks guys – you’ve tracked down my old froggy chum Anita!
I made this curious proto-Beastie for myself when I was about 11… I saw a ventriloquist on TV and decided I wanted my own talking puppet! With a little bit of help from Mum – plus a few days of very intense stitching – I finally unveiled this furry amphibian masterpiece. It’s nice to see her making some new friends!
What was your first big crafty success? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments!
How wonderful that your childhood creation has survived all these years and is being brought back into the fold by Plunkett and Paddy. 11 year old you did a wonderful job. When I was about 13, I used my incredibly lacking sewing skills to make a seal that looked like a mutant whale. I have stuck to making sock monkeys and sock monsters ever since and not even many of those.
Heehee, thank you! It was nice to see her again 😀 I did get a good bit of help with the tricky part of draughting the pattern, after that the sewing was actually the easy part! There’s something special about making your own toys though – how likely is it that you would have remembered buying a stuffed seal? Thanks for stopping by!
I hope they all sit down to a nice game of Murder She Wrote ;)). I’m just trying to learn to crochet, so was pretty proud the other day when I (finally) made a chain stitch. I have no idea why crochet is so much harder than knitting for me, but small steps I suppose.
Oooh, good luck! My embarrassing admission is that I’ve never even tried crochet, so you’re one step ahead of me at least! 😆 And I’ll probably have to join the lads in a game of Murder, She Wrote next time I see them… If memory serves, it needs at least 4 players! Happy crocheting 😀
Don’t you just love venturing up into the loft – there are always all manner of treasures hidden up there. Anita the frog was a triumph! My first knitting success was making a bright pink scarf with tassels. It was my first attempt at knitting and I have been addicted ever since 🙂
Haha! Yes, I wish someone had warned me about how addictive knitting is before I got back into it again! I hope you still have your pink scarf and wear it proudly 😀 Thanks for stopping in!
Yep, addictive is definitely the word! I’m not sure what happened to it actually – I should probably check out the loft 😉
Definitely! Paddy and Plunkett can pop round to help as well if you need a few extra pairs of paws! 😀
I made a pink furry penguin as a child… for some reason it was called Brazil!
Heehee! And whyever not? I wonder if Brazil is still lurking in an attic somewhere too… 😀
It’s possible that he is somewhere around – in our loft at at my mum’s…. but probably given to another child some time in the past.
Let’s hope he’s still out there somewhere… Maybe he even made it to Brazil! 😀
