Hello everyone! As promised in last week’s post, I’ve a new Beastie for you to meet today… And she has so many cool accessories! Hey there, Miss Beastie!

I have to say, I really love this outfit. This Beastie is taking her stye cues from her human counterpart’s actual wardrobe, so including a stripey top and dungaree overalls was all part of the design brief.

I also personalised them by embroidering one of the littlest Totoros (a creature from the animΓ© My Neighbour Totoro) on the front pocket!

This Beastie also has multi-toned dark brown wool hair, magic magnet paws (so she can really hold onto things) and the usual winsome Beastie smile.

And now, for some special personal touches… This Beastie’s new friend has a favourite hat, and I was asked if maybe I could have a go at copying it. Here’s the original (lifted from this website):

And here’s the Beastified version (slightly adjusted for shorter, broader woolly monster heads)!

Our model seems pretty happy with it, anyway!

Now, what else does she need? How about a sketch book and pen, perhaps?

Perfect! And with her magic magnetic paws, she can really hold them too!
And finally, maybe some refreshments are in order. Our human girl LOVES bubble tea (also called boba tea), so it only seemed right to send her new Beastie friend off with a cup of her own to enjoy on the journey. It’s even her favourite flavour – lychee. Yum!

This Beastie-sized boba drink is brewed from 100% wool roving, and is served in a hand-stitched clear cup with a felt straw.
Now, is that everything?

I think so!
Thanks to Miri for this fun Beastie project… Oh, and did I mention that this monster girl has a sister? No? Well, she does… And she’ll be dropping in to join us next week! See you then!
You are amazing! I cannot believe there is an accessory you could not make. The way you innovate in order to create all of these items is just a marvel. That hat is just the cutest and I am very impressed that you could use textiles to replicate the look of bubble tea. As an aside, I cannot deal with bubble tea at all. It really gets my gag reflex going.
Oh wow, thanks Laura! Yes, there was definitely a good bit of improvisation and innovation involved with this one – loads of things I’d never made before. And I’m glad I got away with the bubble tea… I’ve actually never tried it! Cheers for stopping in π
She is fantastic & I love it.
Thanks Lucyann! Glad you like her π
Incredible work, Helen. Those Totoro dungarees are really out of this world. They are perfectly tailored! I’m so impressed with the bubble tea as well — one of my favourite (only?) chewy beverages. Everything about this is just pure delight. π
Thanks, Shirley! Yes, chewable beverages are in pretty short supply when you think about it π I’ve actually never tried it, although bubble tea shops did have a “moment” in Dublin a few years ago, when there seemed to be one on every street! Cheers for stopping in π
Ah, that winning winsome smile! You continue to astound me with your creations, Helen.
Thanks, Mariss! I might be doing a winning winsome smile myself at your comment π Cheers for popping in!
Look at that hat! A perfect replica! I want one!!
Thanks, Queen Bee! The hat has certainly been getting a lot of attention… Maybe you could start dropping hints now, and you might find one in your Christmas stocking? Cheers for dropping in!
Beyond brilliant! The bubble tea is killing me! Love the cat hat!
Heehee! It’s SO lucky that the human-sized hat was out of stock on the website I used for reference photos… Otherwise I’d have 3 of them by now π€£ Thanks for your lovely comment, Tierney!
Superb blog and concept

As a fan of Totoro, you know this Beastie will be having magical adventures in the woods once you send her out into the world π
Absolutely! I’m totally in love with the funny little creatures from the Studio Ghibli universe, so it was great to be able to include one in a project π Thanks for stopping in!
