… Or, as first floated in Tuesday’s post, it’s a Pet-rospective! Beasties love their pets, and at the suggestion of regular reader Queen Bee, I thought it was high time we revisited some of those fuzzy companions from previous commissions.
Let’s start with the very first one – a woolly old English sheepdog I made way back in 2015!
My very first Beastie dogs were knitted. You know me, I love to knit! But although the technique and yarn worked well enough here, I soon found it quite limiting. It’s hard to capture the huge range of dog body shapes, colours and fur textures with yarn!
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before I discovered the magic of needle felting… And all kinds of possibilities opened up.
Enter Mikelet, the miniature miniature schnauzer, who now hangs out with Tierney of tierneycreates and her hard-working blogging Beastie. Here he is just before he left Beastie Towers…
… And he makes a special guest appearance in Tierney’s latest blog post, here. Also, thank you Tierney for listening to the interview I did for From the Maker to the Made and taking the time to write such a lovely review… Or rather, for getting tierneycreates Beastie to write it 😉
Mikelet turned out to be a real trendsetter – that’s like a red setter, only cooler – and I started to get a lot more people looking for Beastified versions of their beloved pets.
So, here’s a pair of pugaliers from last summer……And a Pekingese from a little later that same year. And of course, because I err more on the side of “cat lady”, I also started making Beastie kitties along the way. My first ones were special editions for my first time selling at the Dublin Cat Fair…
… But I soon started making them to order as well! This Beastie with a black cat was made as a partner for the one in the photo above…
… And then there’s this handsome fellow, created as a gift for a lady who owns a beautiful polydactyl cat called Paddy.
And finally, who could forget the best-dressed Beastie pet of them all – Marge the pug!
I still love those glasses.
So, did your favourite make the cut? Let me know in the comments if I missed anyone out!
We’ll be back on Tuesday with more monster antics – have a great weekend and we’ll see you then!

I have always loved the Beastie’s adorable pet sidekicks.
Thanks, Laura! I always have fun with them too… With no pets of my own, it’s nice to get to know other people’s! Cheers for popping in 😊
These Beastie pets are adorable and remarkable in their smallness. I know I keep repeating myself, but I think they are a feat of fine work
Awww, thanks Mariss! And cheers for your kind words – when people notice the teeny details it makes it all the more worthwhile! 😊
I listened to the podcast with both ears. Your take on craft and life is very encouraging. Thanks also for the practical tips on media and marketing
Oh wow… thank you so much, Mariss! It makes me happy to hear you found it useful, and I hope you enjoyed it too. Thanks for taking the time to listen!
A blog post inspired by me? i can’t believe it! Thanks for putting up all these fantastic mini creatures again….I think the Pugaliers are my favourites, but then there is the happy black cat too. Such a contented expression created with hardly any stitches. Magic!
Heehee! Glad you enjoyed it, Queen Bee! It was interesting for me, too – I didn’t realise I’d made so many animal companions until I put this post together. And I’ve just finished a new one too, so keep an eye out for that in a future BeastieBlog! Thanks for swinging by 😊
This is reminding me that I still can’t believe Mr. Husband didn’t order a cat (or ten) to go with all the other accessories for Tammie Beastie.
Well, now that you mention it… Maybe he thought the real moggies might feel threatened by the arrival of teeny felt mini-mes?
I so enjoy the Beastie pet retrospective! Thanks for include Mikelet! All those pets are adorable!!!
And yes the tierneycreates Beastie is always happy to guest blogger post on my blog though I am amazed how she types without fingers….
Always a pleasure to show Mikelet off to an appreciative audience! And yes, it’s amazing what Beasties can manage with those little fingerless paws… It makes you wonder if our opposable thumbs are really all they’re cracked up to be 😜
