Hey there Beastie friends! Sorry about the slight delay in transmission (again!)… It’s been another busy week, and it seems like it’s always my internet time that takes the hit when there’s a deadline to meet! But don’t let this slip fool you – I’m still super excited to welcome another new member of the Beastie family today. Better again, this is kind of a two for one deal…
Hey there, Cool Dad Beastie – and sweet little Baby Girl Beastie too! This charming woolly pair were requested as a super-special Father’s Day gift for a new dad. A very new dad… Father’s Day 2019 was his first! So, to help the festivities go with a trademark Beastie bang, these two little monsters needed to make sure that their human counterparts recognised them straight away.
First of all, let’s talk about that Beastie baby!
Her new human friend is heading for her first birthday, so this Baby Beastie is also a little bigger than some of the Beastie babies you might have met before. She’s also wearing a sweet little bow headband, just like her human does!
And because she’s still so little, Dad is in charge of carrying her around… In this very handy custom-made baby sling. It’s securely held in place by crossover straps at the back…
… And these straps unclip too, making the sling removable!
Here you go, Dad Beastie!
I think it’s time for a hug!
Side note for those of you interested in Beastie development – Baby Beasties grow arms before they grow legs! This probably explains why Beastie legs are so short and stumpy, even in adults… And it makes Beastie parents extra devoted to their littl’uns during those early years too. Awwwww!
Oh, hang on… What did you say, Dad Beastie? Are you sure… Can I hold her?
Heehee! Look how teeny she is!
And while I hold the baby, let’s get to know Dad Beastie a little better. I’ve copied his human buddy’s awesome beard, and made him a custom-tailored felt t-shirt!
And look, he’s into craft beer too! These two new friends will have lots to talk about. Regular BeastieBlog readers will recognise the brand of beer from a birthday commission I did last year… Good news, Beasties everywhere! Your favourite Hop Monster IPA is now available in cans!
Yum!
And then, it was time to hand Baby Beastie back… These two little monsters had to get on their way, or they’d miss the party!
Thanks so much to Deirdre from Olann And magazine for requesting this very special Beastie pair… And I’m sure Deirdre Beastie is happy to have her family complete at last too!
We’ll be back next week (hopefully!) with more monster mayhem… See you then!
AWWWWWW! I think I may actually have exploded from cuteness overload! Baby beastie in a sling is just too adorable
Heehee! Thanks, Hannah! This was a fun new challenge… Most baby Beasties before now have been wrapped in woolly blankets. Cheers for popping in! 😊
Oh oh oh. I don’t which is more alluring — the baby girl or the beard. And thanks again for the weekly chuckle.
You’re welcome, Mariss! Cheers for swinging by (even if I was a little later than usual 😆)!
What a brilliant pairing – baby and beer!
Hahaha! I did briefly wonder if I was endorsing poor Beastie parenting
… Oops! Sent that, but I wasn’t done! It’s not poor parenting, as long as both childcare and beer consumption are in moderation 😆 Also, it seems that the powers that be at WordPress are letting you comment again. Hurrah! It’s nice to see you back! 😊
Now, this is a tough one…..is my favourite piece the baby sling or the can of beer? Hmmmm. Beer or sling?Nope, the baby sling has to win. Where, other than Crawcraft Beasties, would you find a miniature, working baby sling?!
Hahaha! Well, I’ve never SEEN another working miniature baby sling… But then I haven’t been looking for one! 😆 Glad you liked them, Queen Bee – and thanks for dropping in!
Ack! How did this one slip by my WordPress radar? Especially since I now know a bit more about Beastie evolution/development (I think being born without legs indicates Beasties were at one time aquatic, which totally makes sense given Finn’s instinctive snorkeling skills).
That makes perfect sense! Combining your hypothesis with my recent discoveries in this area, I’m now starting to wonder if they have a life cycle a bit like a frog’s… Which means I might have to start watching out for Beastiespawn in the bathtub come spring. Hmmm, do you reckon the Discovery Channel would like to make a documentary about our findings? 🤔
I say we go straight to the top with this and try to get into the scientific journal Nature. Do you think getting Kermit to read read it over counts as being peer-reviewed? And I would definitely watch the tub…Beastiespawn doesn’t sound like something you want to get on your skin. Or wait, maybe it’s the latest overpriced beauty trend. I can’t decide. More research is needed.
If Beastiespawn is the next big thing in skincare, we’re probably going to want to hush it up… Historically, those human/other creature relationships haven’t gone so well! Also, YES, get Kermit on the phone immediately. If a Muppet tells me anything I automatically believe it. 😂
I’ve fainted. A bearded Beastie! With a baby! And Hop Monster IPA. You’ve killed me.
If there was some national creativity award on your side of the pond, you should be the top winner!!!!
Aaaah, you’re making me blush here, Tierney! But I was so happy to see Deirdre’s monster family complete at last 😍 Hope you’ve recovered from all the Beastie-ness by now!
