Winter Garden Wandering with Paddy and Plunkett!

Hello everybody! Well, we may be in the very depths of winter here in the northern hemisphere, but since we all made it through Blue Monday yesterday, it’s onwards and upwards from here! And after introducing a few new Beasties recently (catch up here and here) I thought it might be nice to get out for some fresh air, and take my new camera for a spin.

Of course, Paddy and Plunkett were more than happy to put themselves forward as models! So, we headed out into the garden to see what’s growing… Care to join us?

I caught up with Plunkett while he was tending to his hyacinths. He’s very proud of them, as you can see.

And look! You can still find colour in the garden if you search in the right places…

Climbing Beasties! CrawCrafts BeastiesStill, if it’s winter colour you’re after, this cheerful display of berries certainly fits the bill!

But wait a sec… Where are they off to now? Wait for meeeeeeee!
Through the Archway - CrawCrafts BeastiesUh-oh! Looks like they’ve momentarily given me the slip. Hopefully I’ll be able to track them down before next week’s post!

How about you? Are you eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring before you venture back outdoors, or have you been enjoying walking in your own winter wonderland? Be sure to let us know in the comments!

We’ll be back next week with more from Paddy and Plunkett. I’m sure I’ll catch up with them eventually…

  1. Lovely to see the antics of Paddy and Plunkett again. They are full of mischief, aren’t they. Tell them to drink in the greenness — there is a drought where I live and the natural world is brown

    1. Oh yes, you’re at the height of summer just now, aren’t you? We’re sending green thoughts your way, Mariss! Thanks for stopping in to hang out with the boys 💚

  2. I love the hide-and-seek photo!! Spring is definitely giving Old Man Winter the boot here. Actually, i think he’s falling down on the job since I’ve seen plenty of flowers around town on the same plants that were blooming back in October.

    1. Same here! I came back from this trip to find my baby daffodils putting up buds already! But hey, climate change is totally not a thing, right? 😳 Thanks for stopping in, Tammie!

      1. Nope, no climate change, only a completely natural weather occurrence that just happened to get underway when humans decided to turn old dinosaurs into fuel. I’m rushing to put together a new beehive because I have a feeling the girls are going to be looking for new homes earlier than normal this year with so many things blooming already.

        1. I wouldn’t be surprised! I did see a big solitary bumble bee buzzing around when I was visiting my folks recently, and they’re further north than here. Hope you grab yourself a new swarm soon, anyway!

  3. Wow, I didn’t know that Irish winter was so verdant. Yes to berries and hyacinths and little orange buds in late January! Glad Blue Monday is past us (ouf). Chicago winter saw its second blizzard last week, followed by sleet, and -20s C temps coming up, so our outdoors is only negotiable with a pair of anti-skid boots and many head-covering layers! I know Spring is on its way, but Winter’s not going out without a fight, lol. Nice to see P & P out on their first jaunt of the year. 🙂

    1. Brrrrrr! At least you’ve got an excuse to pick up some new yarn and make something (ANYTHING!) to keep that weather at bay. For us, this winter has been exceptionally mild, with some people even having to mow their lawns because the grass is still growing! But we had an almost Chicagoan snowfall in early March last year, so we’re not out of the woods yet! Stay toasty, Shirley! ❄️

    1. Highly recommended! I really enjoyed touring with the boys… And if you do go a-wandering, you might find some colour inspiration for your next project along the way! Have fun, and thanks for visiting 😊

    1. Heehee! Good luck keeping up with them… Their legs may be short, but they can really move when they put their minds to it! Glad you liked the new-style pictures too! 😊
