Making Sweet Monster Music!

Hey there everybody!

I’m taking a break from frantic pre-market Beastie making to share a new Beastie with you… A rare thing at this time of the year, since so many of my pre-Christmas commissions are destined to be presents, and I wouldn’t want to spoil any surprises! But I received confirmation that this little monster lady had made it safely to her new home at the end of last week, and I reckoned it was high time I introduced her to the world.

Meet Weekes Beastie!

This was an extra special make, because she was requested by a fellow blogger! I always get a kick out of Ms Weekes’s witty posts – they’re a delicious cocktail of history, daily life and humour, and I’ve now lost count of the number of times I’ve nearly choked on my breakfast tea because I’m laughing so hard. So, if you haven’t already, make sure you add Daze & Weekes to your regular reading list. Go on, do it now! We’ll wait here for you.

All done? Good. Let’s continue with the tour, and take a closer look at that hoodie!
Weekes Beastie Hoodie, by CrawCrafts Beasties
Weekes Beastie’s hoodie is modelled on her human counterpart’s favourite item of clothing – an official “Cats” zip-up sweater with – gasp – cat ears on the hood!

As you can see, this is a very useful addition for a Beastie. Her own pointy ears fit snugly in there, keeping them nice and toasty! Then I finished off the hoodie with an embroidered “Cats” logo, zip, and a drawstring for the hood.

She can also take the hood down, if she likes.

That way, you can get a better look at her makeup, piercings and classic Sinead O’Connor hairstyle!

But, most importantly, lets talk about what she’s got in her paw. Because Weekes is not just a blogger – she’s also a talented singer and musician, and her debut album Pocket Bible is out this week! So, it only seemed right and proper to pay tribute to this momentous occasion in felt and teeny sewing…

And, of course, there’s a special edition Beastie-sized record inside the sleeve!

Obviously, this version will only play on special Beastie stereos… But don’t worry! You can pick up a proper human copy for yourself when the full album is released this Friday – that’s the 8th of December 2017. All the info you need is on weekesmusic.com, plus you can also listen to the four singles, find links to curated Spotify playlists and learn a little bit about the stories behind the song lyrics!

Meanwhile, it looks like the two Weekeses have already been out adventuring together…

    1. Thanks, Melissa! 😀 It was a really cool project, and it always brings me such joy to see a Beastie out and about with their new friends after they’ve left home! Thanks for stopping in, I’ll have to pop by your blog and catch up once I get some free time again!

  1. Oh my gosh, I love the little details on this beastie! Especially that you even included a little record. That’s just too cute~

    1. Thanks, Rachel! And yes, I had to include a record inside the sleeve… It wouldn’t have been right otherwise 😁 Cheers for popping in!

  2. She. Is. Amazing!!!!! She’s already turned a few heads traipsing around the English countryside and getting me in trouble with an (approximately) 150 year-old tour guide in Wells Cathedral. What have a gotten myself into?! Seriously though, the details are awesome and she is perfect. Even the drawstring in the hoodie is real and works!?! Insanity. You are so clever and talented. Wishing you the best of luck with the big one this weekend (hopefully you still have some stock after last weekend!), and here’s hoping they shoot another video so we can all see your cute mug in action peddling Beasties. ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Hahaha! Welcome to my life… Don’t worry, you and Weekes Beastie will soon get the hang of stealthy monster photography! Seriously though, I’m so happy you like her… This is one Beastie I really wanted to get right! Best of luck with the album launch on Friday (hopefully your little monster has taken on her fair share of the PR tasks already), and thanks again for being part of the Beastie family! 😀

      1. You certainly got her above and beyond right! I’d say she done 99% of the album PR this week, and for that I am eternally grateful. She did some super dangerous, thrill-seeking posing on top of some cats today… honestly, I hope she doesn’t learn the hard way to be more cautious. I’m looking forward to introducing her over on Daze & Weekes and continuing to show off your amazing skillz. 🙂

        1. Woohoooooo! I’m glad to hear that she’s pulling her weight… Not that she weighs very much, but every little helps, right? Oooh, and guess who had a musical gift waiting in the post when they got home yesterday? THANK YOU! I’m hoping I’ll get a chance to have a quick listen before I head out this morning 😀

        2. Ohhh so glad it arrived!!!! Thank YOU. I hope you don’t mind the hand-painted album art hahaha. It’s kind of like when we had to do this big history timeline project in High School and everyone, obviously, typed theirs out on the computer, but I was like, ‘No no… I’m going to write mine by hand and add illustrations’ …. I mean, what?! Being an unnecessary weirdo doesn’t earn you extra points, Weekes! Does it? Doesn’t it? It should….?

        3. Hahaha! No, I totally love it! I am also a firm believer in hand writing with illustrations… Like the year I decided to decorate the envelopes of all my Christmas cards with personalised doodles, and nearly gave myself an RSI doing it. Why?! PEOPLE JUST THROW THE ENVELOPE AWAY! 10 unnecessary weirdo points to me! 😂

        4. Amazingggggggg! Hahaha, I would have kept it! A couple of years ago I decided to make personalised ‘change of address’ cards to slip in with my xmas cards–hours of tearing out pages from magazines to make little designs representative of my friends’ personalities etc. Every single one of them has since text me asking what my address it. Every. Single. One.

        5. DAMMIT! Um, maybe it’s because they stashed the cards somewhere safe so they could cherish them forever, and were subsequently caught out when they decided to send you an awesome spontaneous gift? Let’s go with that, or we’re both going to start despairing of the state of world!

    1. Thanks, Laura! I’m all about those details… There was plenty of fiddly sewing in there, but I think it was worth it in the end! Cheers for stopping by!

  3. This is the Beastie to best all Beasties! I had to whip the computer around this morning and show Mr Husband the magic your worked on that album cover with a side-by-side comparison to the real album cover. I’m glad you decided not overtax yourself on the hairdo after all the other insanely perfect details. I’m dressing as this Beastie for my next Halloween party (assuming I’m ever invited to one). Amazing job!!!!

    1. Awwww, thanks Tammie! It’s true that the Sinead O’Connor look is one of the easiest to capture accurately… In fact, I’ve been tempted to try it on myself a few times 😂 Glad you liked her, and let me know if you need any help with that Hallowe’en costume! 😉 Cheers for your comment!

    1. Thanks Luiza! She was a lot of fun to make, and she seems so happy in her new home 😀 Thanks for your comment!

  4. Beastie-Weekes is so marvelous. ❤ From the Cats hoodie to the album and cover (that's a really amazing likeness in tiny sewing!); everything here is so lovingly and meticulously made, I'm just blown away. Lovely to see her with her new Beastie-buddy! I've enjoyed Weekes' blog, too! Thank you for the recommend. Looking forward to learning more about her music! 😀

    1. Thank you, Shirley! It’s always a pleasure to see a Beastie so happy in her new home… And it looks like Sinéad, as she’s been christened, is even braving the daunting task of making friends with her new feline housemates! Glad you’ve discovered the joys of Daze & Weekes too – it always gets a chuckle out of me 😀 Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I already admired her on facebook and now I’m thinking maybe weekes beastie should be on an album cover. 😀 I can picture her on stage, too … thousands of fan beasties screaming and cheering for her … maybe even throwing their tiny, knitted underwear. (Sorry, I think I had too much coffee.) 😀

    1. Ha! Is there really such a thing as too much coffee? 😂 If I had infinite free time, I would totally learn animation and create Beastie music videos, so that your caffeine-induced dream could become reality! 😀 Glad you liked Weekes Beastie… And the human version of her album is really worth checking out, too! Cheers for your comment 😀
