Live and Let Dive

This Must be Underwater Love... CrawCrafts Beasties
Time for another new Beastie! Can anyone guess what type of woolly monster we’re meeting today?
Diver Beastie, by CrawCrafts Beasties
Ta-daaaaaah! It’s more than a year since I made my first Diver Beastie, and it seems he made quite the impression on a fellow traveller when he visited Iceland and Greenland a few months ago! It was so exciting to get a commission like this out of the blue, and thanks to some expert guidance, I was able to tailor this Beastie to match her new dive buddy’s gear as closely as possible! Let’s take a look, shall we?

Like all Diver Beasties, this one lives in her wetsuit! She’s also got a weight belt, which goes on before all her scuba gear…

Then it’s time to put on her breathing apparatus, which includes a tank, BCD (buoyancy control device), two regulators (one as a backup, just in case), air gauge and mask!

Unfortunately, diving opportunities are few and far between in central Dublin in the dead of winter… so rather than have Diver Beastie all dressed up with nowhere to go, I set her down in front of an episode of “The Blue Planet”. Hopefully this will tide her over until her first real dive!

I’ll have another new Beastie friend for you next week – and don’t forget to stop by on Friday to find out where Grim Reaper Beastie spent Christmas!

    1. Thank you! She did take a while to come together, because sewing tiny black things to tiny black things on dark winter days is certainly… Um… Challenging. But I think it was worth it in the end 😀

        1. If someone offered me the chance to give it a go, I definitely would! But I’m not going to be abandoning my crafting couch in favour of taking diving lessons anytime soon!

        2. Awesome! I’m sure getting the hang of using the breathing gear is tricky alright, but I love the idea of seeing sea critters in their natural environment. Lucky Beloved!

    1. Probably not… But I’d willingly spend all my free time crafting anyway! And as long as I’m making enough to ensure that I never have to work in a “real” job again, I’m happy 😀 Cheers for stopping by!

        1. Thanks! A bit frantic through December, but it meant that I appreciated some quiet days with my family all the more. I’ve just caught up with your latest posts, I see what you mean about a strange start… But I’m sure it’s just a temporary blip 😃
