November News Flash!

Hello there Beastie friends! I’m just dropping in for a veeeery quick Beastie news update today… With less than two weeks to go until our first market expedition of the year, it’s time for me to get my head down and knit and sew like a monster-maker possessed! But speaking of markets…

The Market Dates page of my website is now LIVE!

Christmas Markets - Market Dates 2018 - CrawCrafts BeastiesClicking on the image above will transport you to the complete listings, where you’ll find all the essential info you’ll need about these events. And hey, even if geography is getting in the way of you dropping into these markets in person, I’m hoping I might nudge you towards sourcing your festive gifts from local, small retailers in your own area instead of braving the horrors of the high street!

Next up, it’s a

And finally…

Happy Blogiversary to meeeeeee!

I was a little surprised to see a notification pop up in my WordPress app this morning to say that the BeastieBlog is now 5 years old! Where did all that time go?! If you want a good chuckle, take a second and have a look at my very first post… With quality content like that, I’m impressed that anyone started reading at all!

Eeeek! If nothing else, I at least know my way around a camera a little better these days.

Joking aside, thank you all SO MUCH for reading my monster-based rantings these last few years. And 2018 has been an especially great year for bloggy connections, with so many of you adopting Beasties of your own, and even dropping in to visit me in Dublin on your travels! Cheers for being part of the Beastie family – you all ROCK!

And now, back to my crafting den I go! Next week, I’m going to let my trusty sidekicks Crablet and Explorer Beastie pick the name of this year’s batch of sloe gin from your suggestions – so if you haven’t already, contribute a cheesy (or preferably sloe-ey) pun in the comments below. I’ve decided the winner will receive a miniature bottle of the stuff when it’s ready, so get those thinking caps on!

  1. Congratulations on your fifth birthblogday. I did read your first post and had a good chuckle. I hope you haven’t told your Beasties about their genesis — they might get upset to learn that they were a bit of a mistake.
Love the cats (even though I am a dog person).

    1. Thanks, Mariss! I had to trawl through a lot of old posts to find that first one, and if nothing else it showed me that I’ve come quite a long way in those 5 years! πŸ˜† As for those Beastie beginnings, they’re proud of their origins. Some of my best ideas come from mistakes, that’s why I try to make as many of them as possible πŸ˜‰ Thank you for being part of the family!

  2. I just wanna kiss all those little kittens right on their adorable satin stitched noses!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS on 5 years!!!! Woweeee. Now I’ve gotta go check out that very first post of yours — it looks amazinggggg! haha πŸ™‚

    1. It really isn’t! πŸ˜‚ But let’s skip over that part… Hooray! Endorsement from a cat lady for the kitty decorations! And a massive THANK YOU back for being such an awesome Beastie supporter these last few years! Thanks for reading, for commenting and for adopting Sinead Beastie so that I can share her adventures when I’m all out of ideas for my own little monsters! You’re the best! 😁

      1. (Aughghgh so late responding!) but of course!!! YOU’RE the best, and there’s nothing like a little Beastie action to brighten up the week. Poor Sinead Beastie is dying another adventure… hopefully soon! πŸ™‚

        1. Hahaha! As you can see, I’m a little tardy on the old responding myself these days πŸ˜‚ Maybe January will bring travel opportunities aplenty for Miss Sinead?

  3. Happy Blogversary! I hit my 5 year anniversary in October so we’ve been blogging for the same length of time and I think I have been following your blog for most of it. My youngest son is cat obsessed. Seriously obsessed. He would adore a tree festooned with those cat ornaments.

    1. Ooooh, congratulations and happy blogiversary back to you, Laura! I’m so glad you’ve stuck around! And of course, thanks so much for adopting Laura Beastie… I hope she’s behaving herself πŸ˜‰
As for the cats – well, I’m hoping the good visitors at the Cat Fair will be feline fanatics on a par with your youngest! We’ll see how it goes 😁
Thanks for stopping by for the birthday celebrations, and here’s to another year of blogging for both of us!

  4. OMG I’m going to be dreaming of kittens with candy canes from now until the day after Thanksgiving when I will immediately hate anything Xmas related. And congrats on 5 years of bloggy fun. Obviously WordPress has completely given up on me because I don’t even get blog-iversary notices :((. And Day One Beastie does not look like someone you would mess with, I’ll give him that!

    1. I’m actually not feeling the Christmas grumbles yet, for once… I think it has a lot to do with being able to lock myself in my craft den for entire days at a time, rather than going to work in a store that started playing “festive” music on Hallowe’en. Isolation is the key!
As for Schnocks… Aaah, he had a hard start in life. Back at the dawn of Beastie time, he had an ongoing rivalry with a mean-minded bear that graced the front of one of Boyfriend’s favourite t-shirts at the time. The conflict turned violent, and threatening messages and photographs like this one were frequently exchanged. But that’s another story for another day! And hey, if WordPress won’t do it, I will… Happy blogiversary, Tammie! πŸΎπŸŽ‰πŸŽ†

  5. Happy 5th Blogversary, Helen! To many happy returns, too. I love revisiting old posts in general; a nice reminder of where it all began. And the felt kitties are adorable. They look very happy to exist and find their new homes. My gin-batch name comes late, but hopefully in time for a good holiday season collective glug: “Let it Sloe.” πŸ™‚

    1. Nice one, Shirley! I’ll definitely be holding on to all these names for future batches, they’ve all been great! Thanks for dropping by, and showing the old posts and new kitties some love! 😊

    1. Awww, thanks Catherine! Unfortunately it looks like I celebrated by abandoning the blog in favour of making stuff this whole week πŸ˜† Cheers for being a part of the family, and thanks for dropping in! 😁
