Oh, hello there!
Beastie Picnic - CrawCrafts BeastiesSome of you might have already noticed a few subtle changes (and -erk- a couple of glitches here and there) across the BeastieBlog over the last couple of days… That’s a mere foreshadowing of what’s on the way! I was actually hoping to unveil the new-look site today, but there has been a bit more behind-the-scenes work involved than I anticipated. So, in keeping with the theme of “refreshing”, I thought I might distract you with some photos of a few new Beastie arrivals, out enjoying their favourite snacks and tipples in the summer sun!

Burger Beastie and Pint Beastie arrived first…
Burger Beastie and Pint Beastie, by CrawCrafts Beasties…And then Cookie Beastie and Doughnut Beastie showed up, just in time for dessert!
Time for Beastie Dessert! CrawCrafts BeastiesDelicious! Burger Beastie seems to be especially enjoying the whole picnicking experience.
Burger Beastie and Friends - CrawCrafts BeastiesAnd look, a pair of felt bees have come to join in the fun as well! They’re snacking on my Mum’s mallow plant, whose exuberant blooms were providing a handy pit stop for all kinds of local wildlife.
Busy Buzzy Bees - CrawCrafts BeastiesYou can make your own little buzzy bees by following my FREE pattern and instructions, here!

You’ll also get a chance to become a lot better acquainted with these new Beasties once the new-look site is launched. In the meantime, please bear with me while I get to grips with the under-the-bonnet workings of the BeastieBlog!

Hey, is anyone else taking on something terrifying this week? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Eeeeeek I’m sorry about the glitches, but I’m sure it will be worth the wait! Meanwhile – Burger Beastie (lololol) looks like he has had one too many of those Guinnesses. And I love Cookie Beastie! I know what you mean… Edward munched on a piece of electrical equipment (and broke it), so I had to chose a different song to release this week that does not involve the (broken) equipment for finishing. Ahhhh!!!

    1. Hmmm, the cat chewed up your equipment, eh? That excuse sounds a little bit too close to “the dog ate my homework” if you ask me… πŸ˜† I didn’t think cats went in so much for the eating of valuables, but clearly Edward has some unusual dietary requirements! I’m looking forward to the dropping of this newest track – do I have the phrasing right this time? – which will surely help me keep my cool as I do battle with the Dark Lord Internet this week. Fingers crossed for no more glitches! Thanks for stopping by! πŸ˜€

      1. Edward’s favourite foods include wires (despite having electrocuted himself one time and singeing his whiskers off), paper/books, yoga mats, and most likely Beasties. One time he quite literally ate my reading homework. I dropped that *exclusive* download bomb this morning (I think that’s probably definitely dorky phrasing on my part) Boom! Please tell the Dark Lord that I say hi – we go way back. Best of luck!!!

        1. Eeek! That’s quite the diet Edward’s put himself on! I love that he doesn’t let a small thing like an electric shock put him off his favourite snack. Aaaand I will be taking advantage of your extreme generosity later today, and blasting that download bomb (nice!) in my Other Workplace. I wish I could say it’s where music execs (is that the most 80s term ever or what?) come to discover new artists, but… Well, at least I’ll enjoy it! Happy Friday! πŸ˜€

        2. Hahaha excellent!!! I can see those music execs now–with their rolled up blazer sleeves and slicked back hair… I’M GONNA BE A STAR! πŸ™‚ Happy Friday to you too!

    1. Hahaha! Yes, I’m not one for the scary stuff myself… But I figured I should probably get under way with Project BeastieBlog Overhaul, which I’ve been putting off since FEBRUARY! πŸ˜† As for the cookie monster – I’m such a big fan of the Muppets that I just couldn’t resist. πŸ˜€ Thanks for stopping by, and your garden looks spectacular at the minute!

  2. I love Burgers Beastie (just please tell me that’s not from McDonald’s). And is it just me, or is that Pint Beastie looking a bit tipsy in that second photo? Best of luck on the site remodel. I keep contemplating a website redesign, but dread all the little glitches that need to be tended to. As for terrifying projects, I have to format my next book this week and it’s been a LOOOONG time since I’ve done that. Time to test my memory of tech skills!

    1. Ooooh, good luck… Book formatting does sound mildly terrifying! And I am REALLY not looking forward to all the little gremlins who will no doubt raise their heads as I venture deeper into the inner workings of my blog – I still remember the “quick overhaul” I did last February that ended up taking about 14 hours! πŸ˜‚ Still, at least I have my Beastie picnic pictures to keep me smiling. That is most definitely not a McDonald’s burger in Burger Beastie’s paws, by the way… In fact, I think I’d rather eat THIS than the McD’s version! 😝

      1. It’s probably got more nutritive value too. πŸ™„ I think you’ve now scared me away from that blog remodel, maybe I’ll just slap up a new tag line and call it good!

        1. It’s certainly full of fibre! 😁 Actually (she said cautiously), the remodel hasn’t been too awful so far… There was only one instance of me yelling at the computer, demanding to know why something was happening a certain way. That has to be a new record!

        2. Yes I do, yes! πŸ˜€ I should probably look into that immediately! πŸͺ🍻

  3. Aw, I love this Beastie picnic-time (the little sesame seeds on the felted bun are so genius!). The summer is really made for outdoor munchies and sips, isn’t it? I hope that your behind-the-scenes work is going well, and that it also leaves some time for some picnic fun, Γ  la Beastie. πŸ™‚

    1. Well now that you mention it, I DID go out for a burger yesterday… You know, for research! πŸ˜‰ We have been seeing a little more sunshine than usual in these parts, long may it continue! (Even if fibre arts and sunscreen don’t always get along πŸ˜†) Hope you’re enjoying the summer where you are, Shirley, and thanks for dropping in!

      1. πŸ™‚ Eating for research (or, when baking, for “quality control”) is one of my favourite ways to go. Glad to hear it’s been sunny in Dublin. Chicago is muggy, but we are getting by thanks to AC and ceiling fans. Cheers!

  4. I bet Beastie picnics are a whole lot of fun. I am intrigued about the blog changes and look forward to the reveal.

My terrifying things this week isn’t really “terrifying” so much as just a new territory challenge. My youngest two sons are on vacation with their grandparents and it is the longest I will ever have been apart from them. The older two go on vacation with their grandparents next month. It is weird only having two kids in the house.

    1. Everything must seem very quiet! I’m sure it’s taking a bit of getting used to, but hopefully you’ll get some extra art time out of it. πŸ˜‰ Are these grandparents in the States, or are the boys getting to travel a little further afield? Thanks for stopping by, Laura – I hope you’ll like the new-look blog! πŸ˜€

      1. Both sets of grandparents live in the U.K. but my in-laws visit here regularly. The little ones have gone to New England; the bigger two are going on a cruise out of New Orleans to Mexico, Honduras, and Belize. Lucky ducks.

  5. I love the beastie picnic and especially the beastie cookie, that’s a piece of art right there! I’m not taking anything on too terrifying, just the week’s usual challenges.
